He was one of the leaders in the Wildcats’ backcourt this season, producing 10.7 points, 5.0 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game and knocked down 59 3-pointers in 2024-25. His ability to make things happen for himself and others is a trait hard to find in point guards these days. He’s a prospect who knows how to win games and play a role within a system, something that’s tough to find in the current landscape.

Another point guard prospect out of Lake Norman High, Josh Yates Josh Yates 6'0" | PG Lake Norman | 2025 State NC is a DII/DIII target in the region worth recruiting! He’s dishing out 4.0 assists per game to go along with 9.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game as the Wildcats are surging! He’s their leader in 3-pointers made (28) while being their second leader in total assists (56) as he looks to go out with a bang in his senior year. A stat worth noting? He’s averaging 8.0 assists per game in Greater Metro Conference action as they’re 3-0. Look for him to continue to elevate his game as Lake Norman looks to make a run to another NCHSAA State Title.

It’s great to have a pass first point guard like Josh Yates Josh Yates 6'0" | PG Lake Norman | 2025 State NC running the show, and I expect him to have a breakout year. He’s a combo guard in a true sense of the word, focused on making plays with the ball in his hands for his teammates but also able to score at multiple levels as well. Got the ability to shoot the jumper and also finish with finesse around the hoop. Really tough and always ready to play whenever I’ve seen him. Will be excited to watch him with his squad this winter.
