The 6-4 junior guard played with a ton of craftiness without the basketball in his hands to make an impact. Verna finished with a game-high 34 points on 13-of-21 shooting from the field, including five made 3-pointers in the win over Riviera Prep. On the defensive side, Verna played with a ton of scrappiness at jumping the passing lanes causing a lot of havoc for the offense. He also collected five rebounds, with four of them on the defensive end.
The 6-5 sophomore guard played with a ton of activity using his length making an impact at the rim, finishing just short of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds in the loss to Victory Christian Academy. He showed a ton of versatility on the defensive end as well where he made an impact guarding multiple positions at times.
The 6-5 junior guard made an impact with his scoring presence whether it was in the paint or from the perimeter. Boozer plays with a high IQ every time he steps onto the floor as well as forcing the defenses into making a quick decision. Boozer has had a strong presence at getting his teammates involved as well where he collapsed the defense for kick-out shots from the perimeter. He is emerging to be one of the nation’s top ranked recruits to be alongside his twin brother Cameron Boozer.
Despite the blowout loss to No. 1 Montverde Academy, Fland led all scorers with 23 points. He scored in a variety of ways whether he was finishing on the attack or off the bounce from beyond the arc. On the defensive end, Fland was very versatile where he was often at times guarding multiple positions. His athleticism and potential are continuing to skyrocket as he is a potential first round draft pick in 2025.
The generational type prospect was all over the floor in the dominant win over No. 9 Archbishop Stepinac finishing with a team-high 20 points and seven rebounds. Flagg’s athleticism and length when guarding off the ball is what stood out to me as he covered all 94-feet of the floor defensively making it a long night for opposing guards to get off a solid shot.
The 6-5 senior guard and Texas commit was all over the place in the win over No. 5 Columbus, finishing with a game-high 21 points and three rebounds. Since he transferred to Link Academy from Lake Highlands (Texas) during the off-season, Johnson has proven to be a versatile difference maker in the open court as he can score across all three levels. Johnson has had quite himself an effective week here at the 50th Annual City of Palms Classic.
