2025 Rankings Stock-Risers

These kids have made big impressions since last season, growing, improving their game, and becoming 10 of the biggest stock-risers in the 2025 class. Let's dive in and see just what makes these players rising prospects heading into their junior years.   [player_tooltip player_id='1850309' first='Sebastian' last='Arius'] Auburn Mountainview   Previous Rank: 40   This summer, it was easy to tell Arius had a unique makeup with deep shooting touch and length to grow into. He wasn't an immediate riser once the summer took off but his development through the end of the AAU season was almost unparalleled. He's quick to pick things up and became one of the leaders on his AAU squad. He's a guy who has proven long range but now can put together combos off the dribble to create more space and get to the rim, where he's also shown an improvement with various finishes. This guy has a big ceiling and should be a name to get to know this winter.   [player_tooltip player_id='1485677' first='Garrett' last='Marrs'] Ellensburg   Previous Rank: 37   Not many kids Marrs' size have the shooting ability he possesses right off the bat. He's shown to be a reliable spot-up shooter from 3-point, a guy who can take a dribble or two and hit from the mid-range, and also someone who can work out of the post and sink those tough turnaround jumpers. His ability to knock down shots has opened up driving lanes and while he won't be the quickest player on the floor, he moves well for his size and is a consistent finisher at the rim. He could be a guy who takes another big jump this season as his physical tools continue to develop.   [player_tooltip player_id='1984467' first='Cole' last='Browne'] Gig Harbor   Previous Rank: 90   Browne was one of the biggest standouts I witnessed from this June's summer league action. He's got the right blend of craftiness and touch to split defenders and operate with efficiency around the paint. But he's also a kid who can get downhill quickly from the perimeter and finish at the hoop. I've said it a number of times but I think he can really take off this season with a balanced team around him. He comes into this winter as the Tides' main creator and has shown he's the kind of heady attacker and playmaker who can shoulder the load.   [player_tooltip player_id='1451024' first='Mateen' last='Usui'] Archbishop Murphy   Previous Rank: 61   Usui has been an intriguing prospect for some time now but he seemed to take that important next step toward the end of last season, looking more confident on the attack with a bigger bag of moves to draw from, a quicker first step off the bounce, and more aggressive play overall. The defensive flashes have been there too and as long as he keeps playing with a high motor he looks like a guy who could continue down the same track and build momentum through his junior season.   [player_tooltip player_id='1850312' first='Layne' last='Weir'] Bonney Lake   Previous Rank: 85   The Bonney Lake big man was another slow starter during the AAU season but when this kid gets going, he looks like a really special player. He's big and strong, standing at 6-foot-7 but also has the shooting touch to space the floor and hit tough fadeaways and pull-ups from the mid-range. The kid can also handle the ball supremely well in tight spaces when he's working toward the hoop. That being said, he has lacked some consistency, which holds him back in this update. Toward the end of the AAU season, he really turned it up and helped secure a regional championship on the Prep Hoops circuit with end-to-end play and a dominant performance. He has the talent to rise much higher and if he keeps playing with the fire he showed at the end of the summer, he'll be a significant player to watch.   [player_tooltip player_id='1984465' first='Jabari' last='Preston'] Spanaway Lake   Previous Rank: 68   Preston is as cool as the other side of the pillow. He's one of the few kids I can watch and know exactly what to expect every time. He's quietly been one of the most efficient shooters all summer no matter who he plays. He's a decently strong guard who can muscle up jumpers through tight defense and doesn't seem easily bothered by hands in his face. He just continues to go out and do his thing, work to his spots, hit clutch shots and compete. Preston has also shown some versatility in the backcourt by handling the point spot off and on.   [player_tooltip player_id='1850529' first='Jake' last='Bonnofsky'] Mt Si   Previous Rank: 91   There are plenty of other kids getting the headlines at Mt Si but Bonnofsky plays an integral role for the Wildcats as a guy who can bring the ball down and set the offense in motion but is also a reliable shooter who can make the most of his opportunities. He's got the burst to keep defenders on their toes and really works his man well to create separation and open up lanes to make plays. He's also a solid on-ball defender and will be a name to watch this season, but someone to keep tabs on for his senior season especially. He could be a late riser in the 2025 class.   [player_tooltip player_id='1850302' first='Reggie' last='Lester'] Annie Wright   Previous Rank: 93   The Annie Wright guard is a strong, stout, offensive weapon who has the burst, power, and handle to get pretty much where he wants on the floor. Whether it's getting to the hoop or finding space to pull up in the mid-range, Lester is an electric player who might have a little Dion Waiters style to his game. He's still not quite as efficient or consistent with the jumper as you would like but he's shown improvements and is the kind of competitor you want on the floor.   [player_tooltip player_id='1451035' first='Avidan' last='West'] Northwest Christian   Previous Rank: 99   The 2B star is an exceptional athlete who can make plays on both ends of the floor with his length and burst. He's an aggressive defender who doesn't make weak swipes, makes good reads on lazy passes to create steals and deflections, and just plays with a high pace throughout all four quarters. He's a tough finisher at the cup and can get it going from behind the arc too with some extended range.   [player_tooltip player_id='1485655' first='Svayjeet' last='Singh'] Mountlake Terrace   Previous Rank: 95   One of the most unheralded players in his class, Singh is a vital part of what Mountlake Terrace does and a big reason why they were able to take teams like Eastside Catholic, Bellevue, and O'Dea down to the wire in last season's 3A tournament. He's a 6-foot-4 wing/post whose defensive acumen allows him to pick up a big variety of players. He's a strong kid but also has the footwork to stay in front of quicker players. Singh rebounds well, and understands his offensive assignment, working the glass and burying the open shots.
