Durant will head back to the drawing board after an 0-3 weekend as they look to regain footing in EYBL play. A couple of bright spots came from their backcourt, one of which was Brooks. He takes on the bulk of the primary ball handling duties and as I’ve stated in recent reports, has improved a great deal on his ability to control the tempo of a game. He’s another point guard on this list that plays effectively in a change-of-pace approach and keeps his defender on their toes with his lethal long-range shooting ability that extends a few feet beyond the high school line. He continues to show growth as a playmaker and dynamic passer in ball screen actions where he uses the gravity that his long-ball demands to force his man to fight over screens, which results in him keeping his man on his back hip while he reads the floor.

Brooks averaged 8.3PPG, 4.3RPG and 2.7APG.

Coming into this spring, I expected Brooks to have a chance to really close the gap as the top-ranking point guard and his performance thus far in April has that prediction in great shape. As the group adjusts to some new faces within the rotation, Brooks is the ultimate floor general with ability to impact as a primary scoring option when needed. It’s his preference to set the table and run the show while picking his spots carefully, but if he has a mismatch or the game is starting to slip out of their control, you’ll see a more aggressive version of him that can carry the scoring responsibilities. He’s been teeing off from deep in high ball screen actions whenever his defender doesn’t fight to go over the screen. He plays with deceptive pace and burst to establish paint touches where he can rely on soft-touch floaters as well as making cross court reads off the live dribble. With the threat of lethal three-ball, Brooks has tremendous balance out of shot fakes where he can get to a mid-range jumper off one dribble with pro-like fluidity.

-One of only two risers in our top 15, Brooks finished the season strong for his team to provide a steadying presence as a playmaking point guard that grew more comfortable finding opportunities to show that he can also score the basketball at a high clip. Brooks stepped into a bigger role down the stretch run of the season as a creator that plays with good pace off of ball screens, showing a good handle of some of the microskills within the halfcourt of waiting for the screen, taking the right angles, and making adjustments on the fly. He also grew more confident rejecting ball screens to get to 1-dribble pull-up jumpers on the baseline off the bounce and showed an aptitude for hitting the big at just the right moment on slips to the rim. Our scouts expect his recruiting to pick up quite a bit this offseason in his second year at the helm of what should be an explosive offense with Team Durant .

Already tracking among the top guards in his class across the region, Brooks has had a chance to further bolster his stock in the absence of McNamara’s pair of Power 5 senior guards down the stretch of the season. He went out with a bang to close out his sophomore year, nearly willing the Mustangs back from a 19-point deficit with a masterful second-half performance. With his team looking ready to pack it in, Brooks never stopped attacking, finishing with 21 points with a blend of deep jumpers and smooth drives to the rim. He showed polished footwork getting into his jump shot from a variety of actions along with deceptive strength while attacking downhill through contact. It was a gutsy performance with the season on the line as Brooks continues to build his resumé as a potential mid-to-high D1 guard.

Brooks is a maestro and flat out knows how to run a team. Time and time again he made great basketball plays for his team. He takes whatever the defense gives him and has a reliable in-between game. Brooks lives in the paint and does a really nice job shifting gears. Brooks had a handful of assists.

On a roster that boasts a handful of Division I prospects, Brooks III seems to bring some calmness and control when the ball is in his hands. One of the more seasoned sophomore guards in the DMV, the sharpshooting point guard uses the gravity demanded by his three-point shot to keep his defender on alert at all times. He’s doing a better job of changing pace in order to get to his position in the half court in order to initiate action. He moves well off the ball and has good understanding of how to come off pindowns shot-ready. If a defender chases him over the screen, he has the soft touch to finish floaters off two feet in the painted area. McNamara suffered a big loss to Roman Catholic in their only game of the event, but Brooks’ 12 points and the manner in which they were scored was a bright spot.

Brooks was one of the more seasoned, coveted rising sophomore guards on the market this summer after one of the more under-the-radar, but very productive freshman campaigns in the DMV. Following a coaching change at Loyola Blakefield (MD), Brooks took his talents to Bishop McNamara (MD) to a loaded roster where playing time wasn’t guaranteed. Still, his poise on the ball combined with his high-level sniping from deep has earned him not only significant playing time, but starting a few games this season. Brooks is fearless as a shooter and is capable of swinging momentum of a game in the matter a few possessions.

-One of the more underrated players in the area, Brooks has been a consistent producer since he stepped foot on the floor last season with Loyola Blakefield. After a coaching change, Brooks transferred into McNamara and has been great for them as a change of pace point guard that can play both on or off the ball because of his feel and shooting ability. Brooks’ IQ to know exactly what type of shot his team needs while staying aggressive himself as a scorer is what makes him such a perfect fit for this situation. Think he will win some games for the Mustangs this season due to how well he organizes the troops out there on the floor.

Team Durant 15 U got a comfortable win to advance to Peach Jam pool play with four players scoring in double figures in the win. Brooks had 14 points as the 6’1 guard was making it rain from downtown, hitting multiple NBA range 3-pointers off the catch. With a green light and the confidence to fire away from way downtown, Brooks had some impressive buckets on Monday. I also saw a really nice live dribble pass by Brooks, finding an open cutter when helpside defense cut off his drive. One of the more talented guards in Maryland’s 2028 class, winning this game gives Brooks and the rest of Team Durant 15 U the opportunity to shine on a big stage this week.

Bishop McNamara has an abundance of talent, and Terry Brooks is another guy who caught my eye on Saturday. Terry plays off and on the ball well, and he was excellent at doing the little things all day. His jump shot wasn’t falling, but his energy on the glass and his passing were both terrific. I think teams should always have two ball handlers on the floor at once, and McNamara having Terry and Prince Moody gives them two true point guards that can be effective in playing either guard position. Terry had a combined 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists in two games.
