Early Pre-Season Rankings 5A

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There is a lot of good teams that can get anyone at any time. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#1 ALTA</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Alta is at the top because they bring back some strong prospects from their State Championship team and they will be lead by two really good players in [player_tooltip player_id='1057035' first='Ace' last='Reiser'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1298532' first='Jaxon' last='Johnson'], both players are really good at their position and they will be tough to stop. They did have some subpar performances against some of the teams listed below but that was summer and spring ball. Look for Alta to be focused and ready to defend their title. A big part of their team that got better was big man [player_tooltip player_id='1057047' first='Carter' last='Doleac'] who is more skilled and is just moving better overall. [player_tooltip player_id='1278438' first='Dash' last='Reiser'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1278501' first='Zack' last='Paepke'] will be good for them as well. [player_tooltip player_id='2318270' first='Bo' last='Compton'] is a solid piece that will add depth to the team. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#2 OLYMPUS</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Olympus might be better than they were last year as their role players will be more skilled and they will also be more experienced. [player_tooltip player_id='1057020' first='Jordan' last='Barnes'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1057034' first='Dutch' last='Dowdell'] make a killer duo and might be one of the best tandems in the back-court. [player_tooltip player_id='1278502' first='Gavin' last='Lowe'] is tough too. This team is hard to not like, look for them to make adjustments all year long and just come out loose and light up the scoreboard. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#3 OREM</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Orem is dangerous as they have young talent that is hungry and they have a vet player moving into the boundaries in [player_tooltip player_id='1164726' first='Jax' last='Allen'] who is 6'4 and can play 1-3. This team might actually start 3 guards that can go with [player_tooltip player_id='1278443' first='Anthony' last='Felesi'], Chance Datrup and then you add [player_tooltip player_id='1278444' first='Kai' last='Wesley'] who has been getting better and bigger. [player_tooltip player_id='1146661' first='Trey' last='Hiatt'] will be solid playing the SF position as well. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#4 TIMPVIEW</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Timpview is young but they will be playing with a lot of confidence as [player_tooltip player_id='1278448' first='Dean' last='Rueckert'] brings a lot of that confidence and high level of play. They have young players that everyone will get to know soon but keep an eye on [player_tooltip player_id='1278505' first='Mason' last='Ford'].</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#5 HIGHLAND</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team is extremely dangerous as they have a little bit of everything and if that ball moves they will be able to get everyone touches and they will be hard to game plan for. [player_tooltip player_id='1551411' first='George' last='McConkie'] and Soren Reis have size to do damage and [player_tooltip player_id='1278450' first='Isaiah' last='Drisdom'] has more than enough skill to handle the ball and score at a high level. This team will be fun to watch.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#6 SPRINGVILLE</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Springville has an inside outside game that will make teams have fits. [player_tooltip player_id='1278439' first='Jamyn' last='Sondrup'] is a load in the middle and if he gets two more inches and gets to 7'0 there will be a big shift because he is already getting his way in the paint. [player_tooltip player_id='1391453' first='Luke' last='Nadauld'] had a great showing this summer and [player_tooltip player_id='1278449' first='Mason' last='Hansen'] is a shooter you need to account for. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#7 SKYLINE</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Skyline will be anchored by [player_tooltip player_id='1459329' first='Landon' last='Shaw'] the big 6'7 PF will be a load and he might just be a double-double machine. [player_tooltip player_id='1278431' first='Itay' last='Lustgarten'] could be a key contributor and is a rising Class of 2026 prospect. They will need to pick up the slack by committee but they have a shot to be good. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#8 BOUNTIFUL</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team could easily be closer to the top as they are led by [player_tooltip player_id='1164728' first='Charlie' last='Smith'] the sharp shooting wing that has exceptional size. He could be a big time shot maker that boost Bountiful upward. [player_tooltip player_id='1231453' first='Carson' last='Smith'] has also been playing very well, he is starting to pop at the right time. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#9 CEDAR VALLEY</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1571764' first='Kyler' last='Hadfield'] looks good and [player_tooltip player_id='1574292' first='Owen' last='Bawden'] could be a game changer with his size and skill. I don't think anyone would be surprised if e scores 17+ and 5 assist minimum. 5A is wide open in the sense that some of these lower ranked teams could beat anyone and WX is one of them. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
