Aaron Womack — SF — Team Haliburton
I think that Womack is going to have an outstanding high school season at Dominican. The small forward showed flashes of greatness last winter. Now, Womack appears to have sharpened his tools. Helping Team Haliburton to a championship victory, he played solid basketball. I like how Womack takes what the defense gives him. He doesn’t press too much. He makes open shots and typically makes the right basketball play.
Will Brands Will Brands 6'4" | PF Totino-Grace | 2024 State MN — PF — MN Rush
Watching Brands’ aggressive attacking style of play is really a joy. The power forward just plays so hard. Regardless of the situation, you can count on Brands playing with 100 percent effort. Even though I would consider him a bit undersized as a PF, Brands finds a way to get the job done. He uses his physical and mental strength to consistently crash into the paint and finish layups.
JJ Semanko JJ Semanko 6'4" | SF Hopkins | 2025 State MN — SF — Team Supreme
Semanko was no doubt one of my favorite prospects to watch this summer. The small forward did many impressive things on both ends of the court. On offense, he can score from all three levels. Semanko is underrated as a playmaker, too. While playing for Team Supreme, I thought that Semanko also showed some potential on defense. Semanko’s long frame allows him to guard multiple positions and block shots.
Joey Butz — SG — BSB
Butz had one of the most spectacular shooting performances of the summer this past weekend in Minnesota. The Border Select Basketball standout tallied 30 points and converted on eight triples in a single game. After putting up these numbers, a list of top stock risers would be incomplete without Butz’s name on it.
Kylin Higgins — PG — Circle City Shooters
I think that Higgins still has plenty of developing to do. But this is what excites me about his game. The point guard did some really solid things this past weekend. I like what Higgins is able to do as a facilitator. He has really great awareness, especially when driving to the hoop. He does a nice job drawing multiple defenders in the paint and then kicking it out to teammates.
Dion Jenkins — PG — Iowa Battlers
I thought that Jenkins put together a handful of really solid performances this weekend in Minnesota. The Iowa Battlers point guard is a skilled slasher and scorer. He was an electric first step and is incredibly explosive at the rim. Jenkins is also much stronger than he appears. At the rim, a little contact doesn’t slow him down. Expect some big-time scoring performances from Jenkins this fall and winter.
Jaleel Donley Jaleel Donley 6'1" | PG Benilde-St. Margaret's | 2025 State MN — PG — Team Supreme
I didn’t get the opportunity to watch Donley for long stretches this weekend. However, what I did see from the Team Supreme point guard was incredibly impressive. I like Donley’s ability to switch gears in a blink. When attacking the rim, Donley is very shifty and quick. Because of this, defenders often struggle to stay in front of the PG. When he puts it all together, Donley is a dangerous scorer and passer.
