Recruiting Report: Ryan Larson (2018)
CDH point guard Ryan Larson has found his niche with the Howard Pulley Panthers as a scrappy, hard working player that can give his team a spark on both ways.
“I think my biggest improvement is on the defensive side of the ball,” Larson told NHR this week. “The Pulley coaches have really stressed that it’s not all about scoring but having great defense will get the coaches attention as well.”
And Ryan has done just that earning himself three scholarship options. He’s on the radar of other programs as well and a lot of that came from a big game at the Peach Jam.
“A big moment for me was when we played Team Melo and I had four steals that game and played almost the whole game due to my defense,” Ryan said.
Prep Hoops was at that game and Larson’s impact was huge. He gave his team the spark to turn the momentum. Larson and the Panthers are playing their last games this weekend in Las Vegas.
“I’m going to be playing in the Great Eight this weekend in Las Vegas. Some things that I would want to do on the floor is help my team and therefore pick up some more interest from colleges and hopefully get an offer this weekend and win the tournament.
“Off the floor I think just to have a good last weekend with the guys and really enjoy it will be great.”
Ryan has been offered by NSIC programs Northern State, Sioux Falls, and St. Cloud State and other programs are calling.
“Some of the newest colleges calling on Ryan are North Dakota, West Point (Army), and University of Minnesota Mankato along with my three offers I have already, and D1 interest as well,” Ryan said.
“I will be visiting Sioux Falls coming up soon but no other visits have been made yet.”
What’s next for Larson after 17u hoops is over?
”In August I’m going to be doing a lot of basketball training with my trainer and just keep shooting in the gym working on my game. Football is still up in the air right now so but also be hanging out with my friends.”
Larson averaged 13.7 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.3 rebounds a game leading his team to the state tournament as a junior.
