Prospect Introduction: Koby Pelissier (2020)
2020 St. Andrew’s guard Koby Pelissier made his debut on the varsity team a season ago.
The 6’0″, 165-pounder called his freshman year a good one. He was able to play behind four seniors, a group that included FSU commit Anthony Polite, Ivan Chmyrenko, Ryan Mcadoo and Billy Brasseur. Also, his older brother Marcus, a 2018 guard finished as the team’s second leading scorer behind Polite.
In terms of what Koby learned. This is what he had to say.
“I learned more about the point guard position and what it takes to separate myself from everyone else by working on my game and watching a lot of film and college basketball,” Pelissier told Prep Hoops Florida. “Last year was a year of experience and improving my game for next season.
“Next season my role is to create for my teammates as well as scoring on the offensive side. On defense, my role is to put pressure on the guards to make them work and get steals and rebounds.”
This summer, he’s playing up for the 11th grade South Florida Elite AAU team. This is his second season running with SFE.
“I’m mostly focused on building my speed, athleticism, strength and every aspect of my game on the court this summer,” Pelissier said.
Starting his basketball life at age 7, he pointed to his ability to get his teammates involved, ballhandling and finding different ways to score as his biggest strengths. He is looking to improve his athleticism, leadership and mental tenacity.
No offers have come yet for the rising sophomore, but he’s drawn interest from Rutgers, Cal State and Youngstown State thus far.
Pelissier is primed for a breakout 2017. The opportunity is there for a group that fought hard in the Class 5A region semifinal. St. Andrew’s is a rising program and this is a chance for some of the younger guys to make a name for themselves.
