Versatility Basketball is in good hands under Shane Maynard
Shane Maynard has been around the game of basketball for his whole life.
The former athlete at Woodrow Wilson in West Virginia is the current owner of Versatility Basketball. The program is a true basketball academy which provides a full high school curriculum along with ACT/SAT prep work. They are partnering with Matlock Academy, who bring teachers to the classrooms in house.
Games and training will be held at the brand new DS Sportsplex in Deerfield Beach. The facility that opened this past year is a 70,000 square foot complex complete with indoor basketball/volleyball courts and locker rooms.
Maynard first earned his B.S. in physical education and health education from West Liberty before earning his M.S. in sport and recreation with a concentration in athletic administration and coaching from Western Kentucky.
He’s coached and recruited over 30 Division I athletes including Frank Mason (Kansas), Deandre Burnett (Miami), Damonte Dodd (Maryland), Corban Collins (LSU), Terry Brutus (Ole Miss), Garland Owens (Boston College) and Ahmad Fields (Utah).
Maynard has also trained more than 15 NBA and international players including Dejuan Blair, Earl Clark, Tyler Johnson, Johnny O’Bryant and Frank Gaines.
With Versatility, the location couldn’t be any better. It’s a beautiful facility that is close to three major airports.
Maynard really sells the game as a global sport helping to place his players all around the world.
The school will have one high school and one post-grad team that will play a 30 game slate. Only a few spots remain available at this point.
Maynard says he already has players from four different countries committed to playing at Versatility this season.
He hopes to create a modern training system and a style of play that will change the game. Maynard is building a strong program and with so many players looking to advance and play at the next level, he will be able to do just that.
