Continue ReadingDeLaSalle versus Minnetonka at the Breakdown Tip-Off Classic featured three Top 50 2023 prospects and three more from the 2024 class. In a tightly contest game, at times baskets were tough to come by, DeLaSalle won with the game tied on a last second shot from Nasir Whitlock Nasir Whitlock 6'2" | PG Delasalle | 2023 State MN .
Nasir Whitlock Nasir Whitlock 6'2" | PG Delasalle | 2023 State MN has proven himself over and over to be a big time player, and there’s a reason Lehigh offered him and secured his commitment. The 2023 Senior guard who led DeLaSalle to the state title game last year took over in the 2nd half versus Minnetonka. At one point scoring 8 straight points on his way to a game high 35 points in the 69-67 win Saturday. Whitlock utilized the dribble pull-up to perfection for multiple scores including his game winner. Whitlock had a floater going which could be extremely key to his development at the next level and his spot-up catch and shoot game really gives himself and the Islanders extra offensive punch.
Ibrahim El-Amin Ibrahim El-Amin 5’10” | PG Minnetonka | 2023 State MN son of famous Minneapolis North guard Khalid really brings me back to when I was young watching Khalid lead North and then UCONN. Their games seem so similar right down to the confidence that no matter what is happening, they’ll bring their team to victory. El-Amin’s spot-up jump shooting is really key to his game part of the speed at which he plays. Scoring 20 points versus DeLaSalle the 2023 uncommitted Senior really put pressure throughout.
Jalen Cain Jalen Cain 6’3″ | SF Minnetonka | 2023 State MN is a 2024 wing who is playing a little bit out of position for Minnetonka. A natural wing, Cain has been dispatched at the defacto five man, but his physicality inside means he’s not giving up any ground to anybody. This versatility on the court makes Cain valuable in ways the box score may not pick up, like when he furiously guarded a smaller guard pushing a steal. So as Cain only scored seven points, his toughness, rebounding, passing and defending were on full display.
Jordan Cain Jordan Cain 6’3″ | SF Minnetonka | 2024 State MN is a six-foot-three-inch guard that has a blossoming perimeter game. The 2023 Cain is a dynamic athlete in the open court but versus DeLaSalle his 3-point shot is really coming along nicely. The shooting motion looks very smooth, especially on spot-ups. Cain uses his athletic ability to snag rebounds, especially on the offensive end which enables him to get put backs at a high rate, a quality that is very helpful at the next level.
Andy Stefonowicz Andy Stefonowicz 6’2″ | PG Minnetonka | 2024 State MN rising profile within the Minnesota basketball landscape as he’s recently been offered D1 scholarships from North Dakota State and the University of St. Thomas. The six-foot-one-inch 2024 guard has real natural ability to run the point of attack, seek teammates out for open looks, and take big shots and make them. Although versus DeLaSalle Stefonowicz scored just 12, he was relentless at times going to the basket creating opportunities.
sreal Moses is a 2023 six-foot-three-inch wing that gives DeLaSalle a D1 committed football player to Kansas so you know a couple things, he’s tough and he’s athletic. Moses run the floor well like the follow put back dunk he had in the first half. He’s versatile so he can shift around on offense and defense whenever needed.
