Levis knocked down the game-winning buzzer-beating 3-pointer to lift Lutheran West over Ottawa Glandorf and keep the Longhorns unbeaten. Levis plays with a streetball swagger with his crossover moves and flashy passes. I was also impressed with how Levis shot the ball in rhythm after dribble moves to create space for himself. Despite some of his athletic limitations, Levis looks like a potential priority Division II recruit starting this spring when colleges at that level prioritize the 2024 class.
Maag is one of the more under the radar bigs in NW Ohio’s 2023 class, producing for one of the best teams in Division III both this season and last. Maag finished with both hands around the rim and had a huge dunk that helped swing momentum for the Titans. I also was impressed with Maag defensively, he blocked a dunk attempt and was commanding the glass as well. Division III schools around NW Ohio will want to take a look at Maag, he’s going to be ready for college coaching right away.
Head had the best game I’ve seen thus far in the 2022-23 high school season. Barley missing a shot, Head scored 41 points and missed just four field goal attempts in the whole game. Getting extremely hot from the outside, Head knocked down some tough shots off dribble handoffs and transition 3-point attempts. After a big season opening performance in a win over Africentric, Head followed that up with an even better performance against another Division III powerhouse. Head looks like one of the biggest stock rising prospects in Ohio’s 2023 class and needs to be looked at by low major programs and prioritized by Division II schools as well.
The best 3-point shooting game I’ve seen Easter have allowed him to score over 30 points in a back-and-forth battle between himself and Head. Early on, it was the slashing game of Easter that gave his team an early lead. Easter is very crafty around the rim, using acrobatic moves to score around the basket and avoid bigger shot blockers. Touch is another elite skill that Easter has, showing that off using floaters and also got the friendly roll on a 3-point shot as well. Easter looked like a nationally ranked prospect in this game, showing off a variety of skills in a big time performance.
STVM had another marquee victory as the Irish have beaten some powerhouse programs so far this season. I could’ve picked a few different players from their team but decided to go with Stratford as he punished an undersized Toledo Central Catholic frontcourt. Stratford finished well with his left hand around the basket and rebounded well as well. The Irish have a huge challenge coming up this Saturday as Sierra Canyon (CA) comes to Columbus to battle with the Irish, Stratford and his teammates will need to be at the top of their game to hang with one of the top teams in the country.
