Harris has been Mr Dependable for Booker T since stepping into the starting line as a sophomore. His mindset is a strong as his frame, and he’s a very physical guard. Who plays to his size with bruising finishing around the rim and all around toughness. Scored a game high 17 points, while also bullying is his way to 8 boards as well. The only complaint, 4-8 free throw shooting. Something the senior lead will surely clean up as he continues on his mission to end his career with Gold.

Even in a fast paced game of chaos, Harris’ steady presence was still felt. It’s been that way since he stepped into the starting lineup as a sophomore. Does a good job of using his natural strength to be a steady ball handler, and is a tank at the rim. One addition to his game this year has been a more consistent jumper. Even with the loss on Friday, he is enjoying a strong start to his senior year. And his presence will be crucial to Booker T Washington’s State Title dreams. Finished with a team high 16 points.

The last time Booker T Washington played in a State Semifinal game, Harris was a freshman on an upperclassmen laden squad. Now as a junior, he’s a key leader for one of the youngest but talented teams in Oklahoma. The bully ball guard was locked in from the jump, hitting crucial early threes that got the offense flowing for the Hornets vs a tall Crossings team. After that he started finishing through the size, while also helping setting the tone for the Hornets’ aggressive press defense. Harris finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds, while being a step closer to the 5A Gold Ball.

Booker T Washington’s floor general was their player in the close defeat. He’s a bowling ball like driver, which shows in the way he muscles through defenders on drives. But he can also be patient and play off two feet when driving into crowds, with the ability to get defenders to bit on ball fakes, then go up for scores. Harris’ strong frame allows him to control the pace and tempo on drives, giving him a calm presence even in the middle of an up tempo chaotic game.

Harris was a double digit scorer last year and clutch during a Class 6A playoff run. Quick, strong and compact, the junior guard is expected to be a terror for the Hornets’ and their 5A foes. He’ll make a living in the lane as an outstanding finisher for his size, and racking up trips to the foul line. With a cool and confident demeanor, which was evident when he drained clutch free throws to send the Hornets to state, Harris is expected to be a leader for a young and exciting Booker T Washington squad.

The only returning double digit scorer for Booker T Washington, Harris is a physical guard that uses his strength to be a tough finisher around the rim. While he can hit from distance and the mid-range, neither have been a true strength in the past. But a viewing at Oral Roberts’ team camp last June, showed improving confidence and flow when shooting off the dribble. If he adds that consistently to his dynamic driving abilities this winter, Harris has the chance to be one of the better overall scorers in Class 5A.

A tough bulldog like guard, Harris plays with the requisite toughness and chip on the shoulder that allows shorter guards to thrive in a game of giants. He’s strong off the dribble, taking contact well at the rim and drawing fouls. Where he’s already shown a bit of a “clutch” gene, as he buried a pair of free throws last March to send his Hornets to the Class 6A State Tournament. To go along with his intensity and desire to attack the basket and create, there also signs this summer Harris is putting in the work to become a more efficient shooter.

The physical guard was a menace as a sophomore as a bulldog going downhill. That intensity and craftiness is still there but there was a very promising sign for the now junior Hornet. In the first half against Owasso, Harris had it going off the dribble from deep. If that shot making ability from deep becomes a consistent theme, he could be a near unstoppable offensive weapon as the ringleader of a talented Hornet backcourt.

Harris played a great game throughout he repeatedly was able to get in the lane and make positive things happen for his team. It seemed as if as the game went on he continued to thrive under pressure. He even showed a rare ability to knock down the three-pointer toward the end of the third quarter. At one point the hornets were down by nine and harris scored eight straight points to help them get back in the ball game. At the end of the game he with the hornets down one knocked down two free throws to help put the game away and give the hornets an opportunity to the state tournament in back-to-back years.
