Recruiting Report: Brady Sartorius (2018)
Iowa’s 14th-ranked 2017, Mount Pleasant point guard Brady Sartorius is starting to see his recruitment take some shape. And it’s Division II schools are coming after him the hardest.
And with a summer ahead where he’ll be a focal point of Kingdom Hoops’ 17U Elite team, it may not be too long before the offers start pouring in.
“Augustana in South Dakota is starting to show some more interest, and Upper Iowa is starting to show some interest, and I’m going on a visit there. I’m currently planning a visit for Winona State, and then Western Illinois has started to get in the mix and show some interest,” said the 6-foot scoring guard.
He had one of the best seasons of anybody in Iowa last winter, helping to lead his team to a state tournament appearance while averaging 21.8 points per game on 59 percent shooting. He also connected on 47 percent of his 3s
“I continued to work on my pull-up game this season, I’ve always been good at that but I wanted to excel even more. And my 3-point shot got better, and kept improving throughout the year. And also getting to the rim and finishing with contact and through contact,” said Sartorius.
“We had a pretty successful season, and they needed me for scoring big-time. But I’d also look to create for teammates and put them in the best situations; and also being a defensive stopper and guarding the best player on the other team.”
Already one of Iowa’s best overall guards, Sartorius is eager to use his summer with Kingdom Hoops to continue and improve.
“I’d still like to improve more on my own game, and as a team just get better and make it to the state championship next year,” he said.
In the past he played with the Iowa Barnstomers’ 2018 squad, which has become one of the best 17U teams in the country. This summer he made the switch to Kingdom Hoops.
“It just came down to playing time and exposure; with the Barnstormers there’s a ton of talent on that team and playing time was limited. So playing with Kingdom Hoops I just thought I’d get more playing time and exposure to college coaches, and hopefully that will help with recruitment.”
His recruitment goals: to pick up as much interest as possible, either D2 or D1.
“I just hope to have a good summer and just pick up some more interest, whether that’s Division II or Division I. My ultimate goal would be to play Division I, but D2 is still really high level,” he said.
“I’ll just be happy with what I get, and just keep working to get better if I want better.”
