2025 South Jersey Guard Prospects to Watch

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The upcoming high school season is right around the corner with the first official practice starting in a couple of weeks. The sophomore class is looking to make their mark on the Garden State this season, especially in South Jersey. Here are the 2025 South Jersey guard prospects to watch in 2022-23.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1411401' first='Emmanuel' last='Joe-Samuel'], 6'4 SG Paul VI</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Joe-Samuel had a strong debut season for the Eagles and should only build off of it in year 2. The 6'4 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he is a good finisher around the rim and is unafraid of contact. Joe-Samuel is more than just a slasher as he also has a nice release on his jumper and shoots the ball with confidence on the perimeter. He is a strong rebounder and has the length to defend multiple positions. Joe-Samuel is a gamer who does whatever it takes to help his team win games at both ends of the floor.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1271427' first='Judah' last='Hidalgo'], 6'4 PG Paul VI</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Joe-Samuel's teammate Hidalgo is primed for a breakout season as the ball should be in his hands more this season. The 6'4 guard has a good shooting stroke and does not rush his jumper in the half court. Hidalgo can beat his defender off the bounce on the perimeter and rarely makes bad decisions with the ball in his hands. He is an underrated rebounder and slides his feet on the defensive end. Hidalgo is set for a big 2022-23 with his ability to knock down perimeter jumpers and get to the basket.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1411627' first='Jamir' last='McNeil'], 6'0 PG Middle Township</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>McNeil does a little bit of every for the Panthers and will be tough to stop in the Cape-Atlantic League this season. The 6'0 guard has a quick first step and a good handle, which he uses to blow by defenders. McNeil is a crafty finisher around the basket and knows how to find his open teammates in the half court. He uses his combination of length and quick hands to create deflections and steals on the defensive end. McNeil is a two-way lead guard who should put up big games for Middle Township this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1411649' first='Tobe' last='Nwobu'], 6'1 PG Camden Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Nwobu led the Irish in scoring in 2021-22 and should repeat the feat in his sophomore season. The 6'1 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he knows how to get into the paint and finish around the basket. Nwobu makes good passes in the half court and can make opponents pay for giving him space behind the arc. He has the potential to play off the ball in spurts and is an underrated defender. Nwobu had three 20-point games in his first varsity season and has the potential for even more 20-point games this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1413231' first='Elijah' last='Crispin'], 5'10 PG Pitman</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Crispin was one of the highest scoring freshmen in the Garden State last season as he nearly scored 400 points. The 5'10 guard is a marksman from distance as he has a lightning quick release and deep range. Crispin shoots the ball with confidence from deep but can also get into the paint and finish. He has the ability to play off the ball and plays with good floor vision.
