Continue ReadingA long, lanky sharpshooter on the wing, Sternberg averaged 15.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists while shooting 40% from behind the arc as a junior. He’s armed with a quick release, extended range, and he moves really well without the ball in his hands. He’s improved his playmaking, evidenced by his 3+ assists a game as a junior, and he’ll contribute on the glass and as a defender.
Highlights
Dinkla has established himself as a fantastic defender and playmaking guard over the last few years, but he showed at the state tournament that he can also be a dominant scorer, putting up 26 points on 9-18 shooting in their quarterfinal win over Marion. He’s thin, but don’t let that fool you because he’s tough as nails and isn’t going to back down from anyone. He’s one of the best competitors in the state and with his ability to get others involved, get to the rim, and defend at a high level, he’s the type of player who is going to make any Division II, NAIA, or Division III program better.
Highlights
A 6-4 combo forward who has shown the ability to score inside and out, Lund averaged a team-high 18.0 points and 7.2 rebounds a game as a junior while posting 54-40-70 shooting splits. He has great footwork and touch on his post touches, and he has a smooth stroke from deep with a quick release. He sees the floor well and is a good enough passer that the offense can run through him as well. He and Sternberg will both be solid pickups for whichever small school ends up with them.
A 6-3 combo guard who does a great job playing with pace and using his change of speeds and size to get to the bucket, Frost was extremely efficient as a junior, averaging 22.4 points on 53-40-85 shooting splits. He has always been a major scorer but took his playmaking (4.0 assists) to another level last season.
Johnson emerged as a dominant scorer for the Rams last season, averaging 18.7 points and 4.2 assists a game, leading the team in both categories. He’s a quick guard who uses his tight handle and quick first step to blow by defenders and get to the bucket. He also averaged nearly six free throws a game, which is a testament to his ability to get into the paint and draw contact.
West Harrison has a trio of players on this list, but Koleson is the top prospect of the group because of his combination of size and skill. At 6-6, he handles the ball well and has a pure stroke from the arc. He shot just 30% from deep as a junior, but that number was 45% as a sophomore. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle of those two numbers, and when you combine that with his playmaking, rebounding, defensive versatility, and size, you have an intriguing young prospect.
A 6-1 wing, Birch shot the ball incredibly well last season, burying 41% of his 3-point attempts and shooting just under 50% from the field while averaging a team-high 15.5 points and 6.3 rebounds. He’s a tough, physical wing who can get to the rim for finishes or shoot it off the dribble or the catch.
Evans is that typical small-school player who doesn’t look the part, but is a dominant basketball player. He averaged 13.6 points, 13.9 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 3.4 steals a game with 52-48-68 shooting splits as a junior. He sees the floor really well and has a good feel for the game. He knows when to create his own looks, is a pure shooter, and has a non-stop motor. He’s the type of player who is going to do everything that is asked of him and then some.
A talented scoring point guard, Curren averaged 13.6 points and 3.9 assists a game as a junior. He’s a good ball-handler and decision-maker who protects the basketball, gets others involved, and can really shoot it off the dribble.
Highlights
King had a fantastic year as a shooter as a junior, knocking down nearly 46% of his 3-point attempts, showing the ability to shoot it at a high clip both off the dribble and the catch. He moves well without the ball in his hands and has a quick release. He has also proven himself to be a reliable ball-handler and decision-maker, dishing out 4.4 assists a game and posting a nearly 3-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
