Emerging 2023’s
A handful of 2023 prospects made statements as division one college coaches prepare for the next evaluation period:
- Jaden Johnson Jaden Johnson 6'0" | PG Bishop McNamara | 2023 State MD is a nice pickup for New World. He is one of a bevy of McNamara guards to watch this month.
- Jeremiah Quigley Jeremiah Quigley 5'9" | PG Bishop McNamara | 2023 State MD ’s stock has skyrocketed in recent weeks. He continued to play well last weekend and is quickly establishing a reputation as one of the more reliable two-way guards in the area.
- Terrell Webster Terrell Webster 6'3" | PG McKinley Tech | 2023 State MD continues to play at a high level. He was once again one of the better all-around performers for Team Takeover National.
- Mike Williams Mike Williams 6'3" | CG Bishop Walsh | 2023 State #141 Nation MD has embraced his identity as a defensive stopper and is thriving. He looks like a top-tier option among local guard prospects.
No Shortage of Elite Wings and Forwards
Any high major division 1 college coach looking to fill out a frontcourt could have easily done so with one trip to Springfield on Sunday:
- Amani Hansberry Amani Hansberry 6'7" | C Mount St. Joseph | 2023 State #52 Nation MD continued his productive play. He thrived in the open court, was a technician in the post, and helped his team control the glass.
- Patrick Ngongba Jr. Patrick Ngongba Jr. 6'10" | C Paul VI | 2024 State #25 Nation VA ’s interior defense played a key role in Team Takeover’s win over We R1. There was a solid string of possessions in the second half where he either blocked or altered a shot.
- Derik Queen looked like the best of the bunch. He once again displayed flawless footwork to go along with unique mobility and dexterity for his size. Queen’s combination of size, power, and finesse was a handful for foes.
- Caleb Williams Caleb Williams 6'7" | SF Sidwell Friends | 2024 State #93 Nation MD continues to impress us each time we see him. He is becoming a matchup problem because he can post smaller defenders or face up and shoot over the top of or blow by others. Williams is also much improved as a defender and rebounder.
St. John’s Duo Makes Shots
One of the immediate takeaways from Sunday’s action was that both Malik Mack Malik Mack 6'0" | PG St. John’s | 2023 State #260 Nation MD and Donavan Freeman Donavan Freeman 6'9" | PF IMG Academy | 2024 #34 Nation FL shot the ball well from the perimeter for Team Takeover. Mack showcased a consistent stroke from behind the arc while Freeman excelled from the mid-range areas.
Younger Classes Showing Promise
Nykolas Lewis Nykolas Lewis 6'2" | PG Gonzaga | 2025 State #146 Nation MD is making a strong case as the area’s top 2025 prospect. He tore it up during the summer league with Gonzaga and is playing like a virtuoso with Team Takeover.
Gio Sanford Gio Sanford 6'5" | SF Riverdale Baptist | 2025 State MD of Eleanor Roosevelt is developing nicely. He is a key player for TTO 15s who doesn’t need the ball to make his presence felt.
Jordan Smith Jr. looks like he is next up in the lineage of star players to attend Paul VI. He is a powerful guard who was outstanding for TTO 15s over the weekend.
