Nyk Lewis was outstanding for Gonzaga. He was doing a fantastic job handling the ball and made a lot of great passes. Gonzaga did a great job getting out and running, and Nyk played a part in that by finding teammates. He had a nice day shooting the ball like the rest of this Gonzaga squad. He finished with 15 points.

 14p 9a 6r 1s vs McNamara

-Lewis has really bought into the role of being a dynamic playmaker for Gonzaga that can really fill up the stat sheet. A physical slasher that loves to draw and dish out contact, he’s driving at particular angles to draw the help and throwing some great passes over the top of the defense to his bigs for easy bunnies around the basket. The handle has sharpened to allow him to deliver passes with more zip off the dribble, getting from a crossover to a one-handed rifle pass to a teammate. Hit a C+S 3, delivered a rocket pass on a rope from the elbow just over the head of his defender

Lewis continued a productive spring with an efficient 13p 6r 1a performance despite being limited by foul trouble midway through the 1H. Lewis is picking his spots much better, getting past his matchup and into the teeth of the defense or moving the ball to an open teammate– leveraging the scoring gravity to draw 2 and make the right play for his group.

You don’t get a USA invite without being a really skilled player and Nyk definitely fits the mode. I’ve know Nyk since he was in the 2nd grade and to watch his growth as player has been amazing watch. He’s a gamer in ever since of the word with the ability to affect the game on both ends. Nyk gets paint touches more than any guard I know because of his first step. Nyk uses both hands around the rim very well and stops on a dime for that mid-range pull up. The weight room has been good to him as he’s now using his upper body strength to create space on dribble drive finishes. His stock will continue to rise as he starts to play make more for his teammates from a PG perspective. Nyk will be a household name across the country by the end of the summer.

Every time Team Herro seemed to mount a comeback, Lewis came through with a bucket off the bounce to build the lead back up. He’s done a great job of attacking hard closeouts to get into the paint and score over taller defenders. His physicality and assertive driving paths to the rim created easy looks for him to convert around the basket. Those drives set up easier pound dribble pull-ups off the bounce that he converted well in transition and in the halfcourt.

Nyk Lewis was committed to attacking the rim against DeMatha in the semis, and he did well in that way in the final. Whenever I watch Nyk, he’s on the floor, hustling for a loose ball. Nyk got to the line and was very productive on the glass. Outside of a few questionable decisions that I’m sure Nyk would love to have back, He was great.

Lewis overcame a rough shooting performance from the field to still impact the game from the charity stripe (8/9) on on the glass (7 rebounds). Performing as one of the best guard rebounders in the area if not country, Lewis’ ability to grab the defensive rebound and start the fastbreak instantaneously has been an invaluable piece of the Gonzaga offense this season. His paint touches and rebounding will be huge for Gonzaga’s chances to win it all tonight

Gonzaga and DeMatha played another low-scoring game, and it was close wire-to-wire. My player of the game was Nyk Lewis, even though he didn’t have a great second-half scoring-wise. Nyk was everywhere on both ends, and it seemed like he was diving for a loose ball whenever possible. He was aggressive getting to the rim and led Gonzaga with 13. He also added 7 rebounds.
