Expert Analysis
Clayton Conover | Prep Hoops Scout
The Toledo commit is the best floor spacing big in the state, providing essential production out of the pop within his opportunities. Comfortable in the face of incoming contests, there are not many names who have a prayer of blocking his shot attempts with such a high release point. Still a critical part of this group’s playmaking, he does a great job operating out of the high post to set up shooters as needed. Of course capable of shooting over the top in those instances, there is not a prospect in the state with his two-way presence.

excels in all aspects of the game, but the most underrated portion of his game is his defense. Praytor communicates exceptionally and knows when to rotate and block shots. At a monstrous 6’11, his collegiate potential on defense is also something to consider.

Praytor is a household name at this point, following recent offers from the University of Denver and Toledo. Projected to be a fairly high volume three point shooter, he was a threat off the catch or while creating space off the bounce. Still a great decision maker in the post, he feasted on opponent double teams, creating timely passes to slashing teammates. Defensively, he is at his best on the move, particularly as a help side shot blocker. Out of defensive rebounds, he is becoming more willing to handle the ball along the break, an area worth noting through the coming months.

Hands down the most dependable frontcourt perimeter shooter in this class, possibly the whole state too, Praytor has made significant strides over the past twelve months. Garnering quite a few division 2 offers, the forward has plenty of interest from his shotmaking profile. Defensively, his mobility and notable length makes him a difficult name to score on, particularly as he continues to build strength.

Praytor’s mobility at his height is not found often in this state, particularly when factoring in his comical 51% on three point attempts last season. A notable stretch big who has improved mightily as a post-playmaker throughout the summer, the forward’s offers should continue to roll in following one from West Florida last week.

Praytor was unleashed at this event, routinely contributing spot-up threes and finesse finishes around the basket. Always a threat to throw down a dunk while attacking head on or along the baseline, there are few frontcourt prospects in the state with his skill, length, and fluidity. A routine lob threat, transition breakaways were constant highlight reels for this 7070 group. Defensively, his disciplined rim protection altered or blocked numerous shot attempts, at roughly 4+ blocks per game by my estimate.

Praytor continued to knock down threes and swat away shots at the rim, bringing one of the most intriguing skillsets of any frontcourt prospects in the state. His relative quickness rotating over on help side allowed him to be a consistent rim protector, arguably his biggest calling card at this point in his career.

Lodon Praytor, at his gargantuan size of 6’11, can destroy defenses. The most shocking aspect of his game, unexpectedly, is how well he can handle the ball and blow by defenders. Praytor can also shoot the ball well, which differentiates him from other bigs.

The lanky forward is a knockdown shooter behind the arc, one of the most confident frontcourt perimeter shooters in the state. The high release point coupled with the notably wide reach has allowed Praytor to be a dependable shotmaker ever versus incoming contests. His long strides allow him to slip screens early, putting immediate pressure on the rim following the ball screen. Praytor’s passing vision has been on full display last season and this summer as well, actively hitting backdoor cutters or shotmakers following the double team.

Praytor remains a mobile forward who is adept, rotating with speed and urgency to swat away shots at the basket. His wide reach paired with above average hand eye coordination make him a potent shot blocker and one of the best rim protectors in the state, despite his lanky frame. Alongside his shot blocking, he is a vocal interior communicator, letting teammates know about screens and cutters whenever necessary. Another area of value is the perimeter shooting, already dependable off the catch while displaying flashes with the pull-up jumper. He recently picked up an offer from local RMAC program UC Colorado Springs, his latest Division II offer.
