Juan Diego Catholic 3A → 5A
The Soaring Eagle will make their debut in 5A next year but in basketball only. Juan Diego has openly brought players in from around the world to help bolster their athletic programs. Sadly even after having players from Chile, Nigeria, Tahiti, Brazil and Mali they have yet to win a State Championship with that model. When they were in 4A a few years ago they got close many times but could never get passed some loaded 4A teams that always had an answer for their zone defense. The Soaring Eagle bring back a few pieces but you never know who will join the team when when the season starts. They have four local kids that have some good game.
6’2 Zuriel Marquez Zuriel Marquez 6'2" | CG Juan Diego Catholic | 2023 State UT
Shifty CG that can play off the ball where he seems to be the most comfortable.
5’11 Noah Bendinger Noah Bendinger 6'4" | CG Corner Canyon | 2025 State UT
Noah is a sharp shooter that will have a lot of defenders really looking to take away that shooting he has, but he can shoot that thing.
5’11 Bryton Valdes Bryton Valdes 5'10" | PG Corner Canyon | 2025 State UT
Young PG that should’ve had more playing time because he has talent. Look for him to take over the reigns at PG because he can go and get others involved.
6’0 Camillo Ramirez
Seldom used guard that can do a little bit of everything. He is a solid glue guy that can handle and shoot, really like his defensive ability.
Juan Diego Catholic will likely be joining a region that has a lot of familiar foes in Uintah, Stansbury and a few others. They will have an excellent shot at taking another region championship as they have been accumulating them over the years.
Layton Christian Academy 2A → 4A
LCA has been a power in basketball for many years as they usually win it all in 1A or 2A or make it all the way to the finals. They have a roster loaded with players from South America as well as different places in Africa. They like to play a team game as they play almost everyone on the roster looking to wear down opponents with their numbers and high pressure defense the entire game. They will join the North section of 4A and with the talent they have they might win region up there but those schools up North are tough. They bring back one notable player that has some talent and next level playing ability.

Having been able to watch him play in high school and now club ball he is a trying to become more of a wing but he has some SF ability as well. Raw and determined players on both ends.
Look for LCA to keep their same model of bringing in players from all over the world as they seem to be doing something right with all those wins they get year in and year out.
