Over 300 teams were competing in the Kansas City area at the Prep Hoops Live event over the weekend. The event featured teams from all over the country and even outside of the country so the talent and competition was at an insane level. In this post, it’s all about Oklahoma and the top prospects that went up to Kansas City and absolutely stole the show. Here are the best prospects that I had a chance to see in person throughout the weekend in Kansas City.
*Disclaimer! I spent the entire weekend at the Drive 5 facility.*
Deken Jones – 2024 Guard – Dale
(Playing With Oklahoma Runners)
Dale 2024 guard Deken Jones was one of my standouts from Saturday’s action at the Drive 5 facility. In fact, the majority of prospects on this breakdown were standouts on Saturday. So I’m trying not to be too repetitive in this post. Jones is coming off helping lead Dale to a state championship back in March. His teammate, Dayton Forsythe Dayton Forsythe 6'3" | PG Dale | 2024 State #206 Nation OK , is considered one of the top 2024 prospects in the state and Forsythe got a lot of love while Dale made that run to the title. However, Jones was a critical part of what Dale did throughout their championship season and we got a chance to see him be THE guy for the Oklahoma Runners over the weekend. Jones was the vocal leader of the team and really didn’t seem like a current sophomore on the floor. Most of his production came in the pain with layups or put backs coming off misses. He was also cleaning up the glass in the rebound category. Jones is your stereotypical glue guy that might go under the radar but is so valuable to the success of the team.

– 2023 Guard – Carl Albert
(Playing With Oklahoma Impact)
Out of all of the teams and players I got a chance to see in person, no prospect impressed more than Carl Albert’s 2023 standout guard Jordan England Jordan England 6'2" | CG Carl Albert | 2023 State OK . While playing with Oklahoma Impact, England was on top of his game and was lights out in a close win over a talented Arnold Palmer squad. England is currently ranked as the #10 overall prospect in Oklahoma’s very talented 2023 class. He showed why he has the potential to be one of the best in the class with a full display of skills on Saturday afternoon. The lefty was getting to the rim and finishing in magnificent ways throughout the game. He was also pulling up and knocking down jumpers and embarrassing defenders as they completely lost track of where he was on the floor. England also got the game started by knocking down several shots from the perimeter and showcased plenty of range. If we were handing out an MVP for the weekend, it’d go to England.
Logan Knol

– 2025 Forward – Edmond North
(Playing With Oklahoma Flight)
Just like Deken Jones, Logan Knol Logan Knol 6'6" | SF Edmond North | 2025 State OK is coming off a state championship with Edmond North. And just like with Jones and Dale basketball, we could be seeing the start of a dynasty run with Edmond North in 6A. Knol is yet another young and talented prospect that Edmond North is going to be able to put out on the floor and provide more depth to an already stacked lineup. Knol was incredibly impressive when we saw him on Saturday evening. He was solid at 6’5 and consistent all evening around the rim. He was without a doubt the best player on the floor and it wasn’t close. Knol was finishing with both hands and against contact. Knol even showed off his ability to knock down a jumper here and there although most of his work was done in the paint. Of the 2025 in-state prospects I saw over the weekend, Knol was the best.

Del City | 2023

OK
– 2023 Forward – Del City
(Playing With Oklahoma Impact)
The second player from Oklahoma Impact to make this list and rightfully so after a stellar weekend for their 17U squad. Del City 2023 forward Percy Green Percy Green 6'4" | SF Del City | 2023 State OK continued to improve and when we look ahead to what Del City could look like next season, they have the chance to be pretty special. As I’ve written about before, Green was primarily used as a shooter for the Eagles last season. But this weekend, Green showed that he is much more than just a shooter. First off, he was one of the better defenders that we got a chance to see in person. He was incredibly active throughout the game and helped force plenty of turnovers and missed shots. Then on the offensive side of the ball, Green had to do something different to have an impact. He couldn’t get into a rhythm with his jumper and decided to drive to the basket to get points. And once he started, there was no stopping him as he got to the basket at will. If he continues to show that in his game to go along with the shooting, he’s going to continue to climb the 2023 rankings for Oklahoma prospects. He certainly has a high ceiling of what he could end up being.
