Another player who stood out at the state tournament, Lantz and Shelby had a great run to win the Division II NW region. Lantz, who recently received his first offer from nearby Ashland University, is an explosive athlete who excels in transition. At the high school level, Lantz was relied upon to create offense and be a secondary scoring option next to Wright State commit

. I expect Lantz to be even more impactful as a defender at the college level when his offensive scoring load decreases. A lot of long term upside with a player as athletic as Lantz who has already shown the ability to produce in big games. A name to watch from Ohio’s 2024 class.

Lentz is a next-level guard. He has all you want in a guard. He has great length and athleticism. He can guard almost any position on the floor due to his athletic ability. He did a really good job of crashing the boards. He gets to the rim with ease and is one the best slashing guards I’ve seen this year. Lantz has a quick first step. He has great finishing ability because of his many ways to do it. He got to the rim often off of screens and in transition against Findlay late. He got to the free-throw line a lot because they couldn’t check him.

A prospect who gets more athletic each time I watch him and is playing with more confidence, Lantz is a prospect who will play his best basketball later in his college career. Trying to lead Shelby to a conference and district title, Lantz is a prospect to watch in northwest Ohio.

, you saw Lantz taking an even bigger role and showed some flashes that he continues to build on from the summer. Improving as an athlete each time I watch him after a couple months, Lantz had some above the rim finishes through contact and rose up for some grown man rebounds. Combine this with his impressive shot-making ability and Lantz is a prime breakout candidate playing as a robin next to Bruskotter’s batman for a Shelby squad that should make a lot of noise in Division II.

Lantz was a Sunday add to the event and he made the most out of his opportunity. I already knew he was going to be someone who would impress once I knew he would be coming. He took me by surprise with his athleticism. He is a long guard with trampolines for feet. He has multiple powerful dunks in the half-court and fast break. He was causing a lot of trouble for other teams on the defensive end. He was getting a lot of steals and creating them to speed up. He played with a high motor all day as well. Lentz is a scholarship-level kid.

Rebounding was an aspect where Lantz really stood out, using his length and athleticism to control the boards on both ends. With his high motor for rebounds, Lantz was able to grab and go to start the break as he’s a capable ball handler for his size. Consistently improving as an athlete, Lantz almost brought the house down with a transition dunk attempt that went off the rim. I expect a big senior season for Lantz and Shelby, as the Whippets have a lot of size and athleticism for a Division II team.

Shelby has been a small town school that’s been putting out talented prospects pretty much every year since I began scouting with Prep Hoops in the class of 2021. One of those Shelby prospects was Casey’s older brother Cody but with the younger Lantz and Wright State commit

, the Whippets should have one of their best teams next season. Lantz is a long wing who can hit shots and has steadily improved since I first scouted him a couple years ago. With the explosiveness to throw it down in transition, Lantz will have a very intriguing highlight tape by the end of his senior season. Expect small college programs to make him a priority this winter.
