The calendar has flipped to February and the regular season is starting to wind down. As teams start getting into playoff mode, these games become incredibly important for seeding purposes. We only have a few more games that will count towards seeding for the playoffs so every game counts right now. Here’s a look at the top five results from Tuesday night, along with a look at five individuals who lit it up.
Booker T Washington 75, Jenks 59
The day after Booker T Washington 2022 guard Aaron Potter Aaron Potter 6'2" | SG Owasso | 2022 State OK was ranked as the top prospect in our updated 2022 rankings, he could not be stopped in a showdown with Jenks. The senior guard would drop 31 points on the Trojans and the Hornets showed why they have to be considered the top team in Class 6A on Tuesday night when they smashed Jenks in north Tulsa 75-59.
Both teams got out to fast starts but the Hornets would never slow down as they would run away from the Trojans in the final two and a half quarters. Potter also got out to a fast start as he scored 19 of his game-high 31 points in the first half. Potter wasn’t the only standout for the Hornets, he got plenty of help from fellow 2022 guard Kam Parker Kam Parker 6'2" | PG Booker T Washington | 2022 State OK , who dropped 29 points. The two guards combined for 60 points in the win and showed that they could be the top duo in Class 6A with the playoffs right around the corner.
Heritage Hall 76, Millwood 62
A big win in Oklahoma City came as Heritage Hall knocked off Millwood 76-62. The Chargers made sure to make this a quick game on Tuesday night, jumping out to a 13-2 lead after the first quarter. They would put it in cruise control from there and get the big win. Heritage Hall has to be considered once again one of the top teams in a wide open Class 4A. One thing is for sure, like 6A, there are several teams that have legitimate claims to being contenders and the Chargers are one of those teams.
Leading the way for Heritage Hall on Tuesday night was 2023 guard CJ Smith CJ Smith 6'7" | SF Putnam City North | 2023 State OK . The senior finished with 26 points in the win and he’s a prospect that we like in the 2023 class. He impressed back at the Prep Hoops Expo in September and we’re waiting for him to fully become that guy that can help lead Heritage Hall to not only a return trip to the Big House, but a return trip to Championship Saturday. Tuesday’s performance against Millwood might be one of the first steps in that.
Midwest City 71, Putnam City North 67
We wrote about the Bombers last week but we’ll do it again here and continue to mention that you do not want to play Midwest City right now. The Bombers are red hot and they showed that again on Tuesday night with a 71-67 win over Putnam City North where they rallied to stun the Panthers. PC North led by 17 points in the third quarter and had that erased as Midwest City would win their 6th straight game and their 10th in the last 11 games.
Senior forward Jacobi Sebock Jacobi Sebock 6'5" | SF Midwest City | 2022 State OK had a big night for the Bombers but once again it was balanced scoring that helped them get the win over the Panthers. The Bombers had four players finish in double figures. In Class 5A, all of the talk is surrounded around Memorial and Midwest City’s rival Del City. But at this point, if you’re overlooking the Bombers, you’re making a mistake.
Norman North 63, Mustang 62
One year ago, 2023 guard Jeremiah Johnson Jeremiah Johnson 6'4" | PG Wasatch Academy Prep Class Of 2024 | 2024 GA was in the hospital after being shot multiple times. Sam Duren wrote about his road back to the court back in October. And one year after that horrific event, Johnson was leading Norman North to a 63-62 victory over Mustang on Tuesday night. You could pitch this idea to Hollywood but the story isn’t finished yet. Johnson is currently rated as one of the top 2023 guards in Oklahoma and in this part of the country.
On Tuesday night, Johnson went off and showed just why he’s considered that as he led the Timberwolves with 32 points and what would be the game-winning shot as they got a big win over Mustang. In addition to hitting the game-winning shot, Johnson had 29 of his 32 points in the second half. This was a game that Norman North needed to win for playoff seeding purposes. For Mustang, the Broncos need to bounce back in a big way soon as they’ve now lost four straight and have Edmond Memorial on Friday night.
Owasso 60, Broken Arrow 42
While plenty of eyes were on the Booker T Washington-Jenks match-up, another marquee match-up happened in Broken Arrow as Owasso ran away from the Tigers with a very impressive 60-42 road win. This was a game that Broken Arrow led 23-22 at halftime. The Tigers held Owasso to just five points in the second quarter but it was all Rams after halftime. They would outscore the Tigers 38-20 in the final two quarters as they got a very important win towards seeding in the 6A playoffs.
Once again, the Rams were led by 2022 forward Caden Fry Caden Fry 6'7" | C Owasso | 2022 State OK , who finished with a game-high 20 points. He’s continuing to prove that he’s one of the best forwards in Oklahoma today. But it wasn’t just Fry who was dominant in the win. In addition to the standout senior, the Rams had three other players finish in double figures, including senior sharpshooter Caleb Leslie Caleb Leslie 6'1" | SG Owasso | 2022 OK who was doing his thing once again from behind the arc.
