Here were the results of the four games I viewed:
Deer Valley 64
Greenway 45
Liberty 98
Sandra Day O’Connor 51
Centennial 86
Willow Canyon 59
Apollo 77
Peoria 52
Here were some of the standout juniors:
Ky Green Ky Green 6'6" | SF Liberty | 2023 State AZ Liberty
A long wing transferred into Liberty will impact them immediately. He can hit the catch and shoot-3 and takes long strides to basket. He can play above the rim in transition and loves getting downhill with his right hand. He can pull-up from mid-range off the dribble and the mid J is starting to become his sweet spot.
Lashy Perez Lashy Perez 6'2" | PG Apollo | 2023 State AZ Apollo
A super shifty scoring lead guard has a tight handle. He scores it multiple ways from the catch-3, he gets downhill scoring through contact and plays smartly off the pick and roll game. He is a good passer and throws the lob on target. He finished with 18 points.
Emery Young Emery Young 6'4" | SG Centennial | 2023 State AZ Centennial
One of the top Swiss Army knifes in the junior class. He handles it, he defends and plays multiple positions, he rebounds out of his area, makes plays for his teammates and is asked to score it more this season. He can hit the 3 with more success and take it to the rack with success.
Andrew Camacho Andrew Camacho 6'1" | CG Peoria | 2023 State AZ Peoria
A crafty highly skilled guard can get downhill using his left or right hand. He knows how to create the contact and uses angles smartly. He is a smart passer and directs the team. He can play off the ball as well and be that knockdown catch 3pt shooter and he knows how to get to the FT line. He recently had big games of 40 and 30 pts on back to back nights.
Bobby Holcomb Bobby Holcomb 6'0" | PG Apollo | 2023 State AZ Apollo
A combo guard who take a lot of pressure off of Mohamed and Perez. He has a very quick first step to get passed his defenders and is a good passer. He can pull-up from mid-range and has a nice layup package.
Caden Hunter Caden Hunter 6'5" | PF Liberty | 2023 State AZ Liberty
A high motored forward is a big time glass cleaner with his desire to rebound the ball. His motor literally doesn’t stop all game long. He may live on the FT line all year long and he has improved his handle dramatically from last year. He gives good ball fakes and will take it to rim. He does a lot of their grunt work and will put up stats this year with their face paced style. He had 20 pts after only 3 qtrs of play. He is one of the early leaders for Breakout POY in 6A.
Jaydon S Cameron Jaydon S Cameron 6'4" | SG Deer Valley | 2023 State AZ Deer Valley (Pictured middle)
A catch and shoot 3pt shooter is getting stronger as he ages. He smartly moves without the ball and will cut to the open spots. He has a pretty stroke with good ball rotation and will have some big nights this year for the Skyhawks.
Jayden Sleeper Jayden Sleeper 5'8" | PG Deer Valley | 2023 State AZ Deer Valley (Pictured right)
A super quick undersized 3pt shooter with a real burst. He has a tight handle and gets passed his defenders with his speed. He has unlimited range and is a feisty on-ball defender.
Eric Perkins Eric Perkins 6'1" | CG Deer Valley | 2023 State AZ Deer Valley (Pictured left)
Another catch and shoot 3pt shooter for the Skyhawks. He is a little lean but he has a sneaky good handle and he can drive and kick it to open teammates. He is a fluid athlete and will be a factor in 4A this year.
