Tyler McKinley Tyler McKinley 6'9" | PF Winton Woods | 2024 State #78 Nation OH , 6’8 C Walnut Hills 2024: McKinley is my top rated prospect in the state for his class, and there’s a lot to like about his game. At 6’8, McKinley is also well built at such a young age. A capable mover, McKinley combines strength and power with quick feet able to switch onto guards. McKinley also has a great feel for the game as his passing ability is high level for a big guy. In general, I think McKinley is a no brainer high major prospect and I’d imagine he appears on national recruiting boards pretty soon.
Raleigh Burgess Raleigh Burgess 6'10" | C Sycamore | 2024 State #130 Nation OH , 6’9 C Sycamore 2024: Burgess is probably the most under the radar prospect you’ll see in my top 5 rankings in this grade. For starters, Burgess was hidden on JV with Sycamore as a Freshman and then played for a non shoe circuit team in the summer. If you haven’t heard about Burgess yet, that’s okay. Burgess is another big with the ability to pass the ball from the post area. I’m also impressed with his movement skills for another young big at his size. I think that’s becoming a common theme among highly rated young bigs, their ability to put on weight and not be slow footed. Sometimes you talk about prospects putting on muscle and it never happens, that’s not a worry with either McKinley or Burgess.
Jesse McCulloch Jesse McCulloch 6'9" | PF Lutheran East | 2024 State #136 Nation OH , 6’8 C Lutheran East 2024: Another big who didn’t get much varsity time, but with the amount of depth and experience that Lutheran East had last season, it would’ve been tough for any freshman to get consistent minutes. McCulloch actually shot the ball from the outside at a really high percentage from 3-point land on limited attempts. For C2K, you saw McCulloch be more of a rebounder and rim protector specifically. Kent State, Akron, Cleveland State and Toledo have all already offered McCulloch.
Tayvion Galloway, 6’6 C Unioto 2024: Galloway was very impressive for Unioto when I caught him early in the season. He actually outplayed fellow elite 2024 big man Sam Johnson Sam Johnson 6'6" | C Worthington Christian | 2024 State OH in that game. In EYBL play I saw a bit more of Galloway’s raw offensive skills, but his motor and athleticism makes him a potential Division I basketball prospect in my eyes. Football coaches love Galloway, as he was the first prospect in Ross county history to be offered as a Sophomore.
Jason Moore Jason Moore 6'8" | C Marysville | 2024 State OH , 6’7 C Marysville 2024: Moore is another member of the pumas 15 U squad that was so impressive during the summer, making it far in the 3SSB tournament. Moore was impressive at multiple 270 Hoops events with his rebounding and size. Like most of these bigs, Moore is far from a finished product. I’ll be excited to monitor his offensive development over the next couple seasons.
