DeMarcus left it all out on the floor in his final high school game. He is an excellent on-ball defender, picking up with high effort and intensity from start to finish. He scored a team-high 16 points, having to battle for every basket against a tough Farmington team. He did most of his scoring around the basket, having the ability to blow by defenders on his way to difficult finish. He also connected with a couple triples off of the dribble. Burks will be a freshman at Northern State next season where I could see him carving out an important role.

In an 8am matchup with Holy Family, there was no stopping Burks from getting to the rim. He was getting just about any look he wanted to, as Holy Family simply didn’t have a defender that could matchup with his length and explosiveness on the ball. If he saw an angle to attack the basket, he was able to burst through and just glide to the rim to finish with either hand. Showed good touch on his jumper as well to keep the defenders honest. Holy Family held a lead in the second half, but Burks simply took the game over the lead a shorthanded Lakeville South team to a 6 point win in the end.
