Sherburne is an easy choice here. The league’s leading returning scorer and one of the best rebounders in the division, he’s a highly efficient forward who paces a Janesville team that will battle it out with Dunkerton all season. His activity levels on both ends of the floor make him a difficult matchup.
First Team
2022 Wiley Sherburne Wiley Sherburne 6'4" | PF Janesville | 2022 State IA , Janesville: 22.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 2.3 steals, 61.5 FG%
Sherburne averaged 9.1 more points a game than any other returnee in the division, and his efficiency is huge for the Wildcats. A mobile and active big man who runs the floor, establishes great position and has excellent hands, he’s a dominant force within this league on both ends of the floor.
2022 Leo Dodd Leo Dodd 5'11" | PG Janesville | 2022 State IA , Janesville: 7.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 8.7 assists, 2.8 steals
Dodd led the state in assists last year, dishing out 209 helpers. He’s a true pass-first lead guard who thrives on getting others involved, and he pairs really well with the dynamic scoring threat in Sherburne. He’s also a pest on the defensive end, with his 2.8 steals a game ranking second among returnees.
2023 Casey Gardner Casey Gardner 5'8" | PG Dunkerton | 2023 State IA , Dunkerton: 11.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 2.5 steals
Another big-time lead guard in the division, Gardner dished out 170 assists last season and helped lead a resurgence at Dunkerton. In addition to his great passing and court vision, Gardner had a big summer scoring for Waterloo Salvation and will be looking to incorporate that into his game a bit more this year.
2022 Kaden Behrens Kaden Behrens 6'1" | PF Dunkerton | 2022 State IA , Dunkerton: 13.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 64.1 FG%
A highly efficient forward who led the Raiders in scoring last season, Behrens crashes the offensive glass hard, pulling down 2.6 offensive boards a game last season.
2024 Drew Wagner, Waterloo Christian: 13.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 63.1 FG%
The 6-3 forward was extremely productive as a freshman for the Regents, who posted their most wins in the last five years. He shot 63.1% from the field, while the rest of his teammates shot just 33.2%. He led the team in rebounding, dominating the glass on both ends of the floor, and his 8.4 rebounds a game are tops among league returnees.
