I was able to stop by and check out the action on Friday and as always, I mainly focused on the talent from the DMV. Below are five players that stood out.
2022 Noah Batchellor | 6’6 | 17U Team Thrill
This was my first time seeing Batchellor live since he has been committed to Penny Hardaway and Memphis and I walked away impressed. Batchellor was constantly playing hard and doing all of the little things to help his team. He was making smart plays, knocking down shots and found himself in the right place multiple times. He looked good in front of two of his future assistant coaches that were in attendance.
2023 David Bolding | 6’4 | 16U DC Premier
Bolding showed off some impressive speed and quickness in a win against WE R1. He brought great energy and was the spark that helped Premier hold off in beating WE R1 at the UAA Finals. Bolding has good speed and was a complete game changer for DC Premier in helping them advance to the final four of the UAA Final this past weekend in Indianapolis.
2023 Kevon Corley | 6’5 | 16U DC Premier
Corley had some good games during the June live periods at DMV Live and continued his strong play in Indianapolis this past weekend. Given his size at 6’5 Corley has good versatility that can allow him to score the ball in a variety of ways on offense and make a big impact on the defensive side of the ball. Corley has a chance to have a breakout high school season this upcoming year.
2023 Jaden Johnson Jaden Johnson 6'0" | PG Bishop McNamara | 2023 State MD | 6’1 | 16U DC Premier
Jaden concluded his strong summer at the UAA Finals in being the lead catalyst for DC Premier . Johnson is an aggressive guard that can get downhill well. Johnson is set to make noise for Bishop McNamara this upcoming season in the WCAC.
2022 Christian Winborne Christian Winborne 6'2" | CG Gilman | 2022 State #199 Nation MD | 6’3 | 17U Team Thrill
Fresh off his commitment to St. Joe’s, Winborne played some of his best basketball I have ever seen him play on Friday. Winborne was passing at an elite level setting up his teammates and showed that he can be a high level guard in the Atlantic 10. Look for Winborne to make an impact right away for Billy Lange and St. Joe’s.
