The 6’3″, 200-pound Dillard junior holds 11 Division-I football offers including Kentucky, Syracuse, Iowa State and NC State for his abilities as a wide receiver.
In 18 minutes on Wednesday night in a City of Palms Classic win over Sarasota Riverview, Oliver had eight points and showed off his leadership skills as a passer.
Here’s how he described his season so far and experience at the City of Palms Classic. The Panthers are currently 10-4.
“This season has been going well so far,” Oliver said. “Coming back from football it’s a little difficult transitioning but I’m starting to get into my groove again.
“City of Palms was a good experience even though we played one game, we still got to watch some high-level basketball.”
Oliver ranks No. 60 in the Prep Hoops Florida 2018 class rankings.
He breaks down his game like this.
“My game is aggressive and filled with high energy,” Oliver said. “I would love to get better at every aspect of my game, most definitely on my shooting and ball handling.”
For the last two years, Oliver has played AAU ball for coach Brandon McThay and the Florida Vipers.
Although he may be getting the majority of his looks as a wide receiver, Oliver is a savvy kid who can play both sports at a high level. With two years left in high school, he should improve tremendously this season on the basketball court.
