I wrote about top standouts after Saturday and Sunday’s packed slate and now it is time to look at some playmakers in the 16U division.
Jared Russo Jared Russo 6'8" | PF River Ridge | 2022 State GA and Tony Carpio Tony Carpio 6'7" | PF Providence | 2022 State GA | Atlanta AllStars
The Atlanta AllStars 16U group is solid as can be. With two legitimate bigs in place with 2022 River Ridge 6-8 forward Jared Russo Jared Russo 6'8" | PF River Ridge | 2022 State GA and 2022 6-7 Providence forward Tony Carpio Tony Carpio 6'7" | PF Providence | 2022 State GA working in sync, it is dangerous. Russo and Carpio combined for 25 points in the opening tilt against the Auburn Raptors on Saturday. Russo is highly efficient around the rim and is willing to be physical down low. As he continues to add muscle, he will be even more dangerous. Carpio is a core rebounder, someone who has nimble feet and speed out on the break and he loves to mix it up inside. The combo is dangerous.
Kedar Bodie Kedar Bodie 6'3" | SG Butler | 2022 State GA | 6-4 | Atlanta Celtics South
There isn’t much not to like about 2022 6-4 Atlanta Celtics South wing Kedar Bodie Kedar Bodie 6'3" | SG Butler | 2022 State GA . He is packed with strength and energy and it showed all weekend long at LakePoint. The Augusta Butler guard was the top piece for his group averaging 20.0 PPG and leading the charge game in and game out.
Alex Perry Alex Perry 6'6" | CG Port Charlotte | 2022 State FL | 6-5 | Tampa Bayhawks
A versatile player at 6-5, Alex Perry Alex Perry 6'6" | CG Port Charlotte | 2022 State FL can play the one through the four in any lineup. He was a handful for the Tampa Bayhawks both days and his fluid length helps him get inside and finish with ease. He gets up on dunks, lay-ins and rebounds. The Port Charlotte dual-sport athlete who plays football as well as a wide receiver and it is clear by seeing him on the basketball court. Perry played up with 17U at times as well and held his own. His upside is clear.
Jivenson Sylvestre | 6-4 | SOH Elite
Any college searching for a physical wing, Jivenson Sylvestre certainly fits the bill. He was active on the weekend and I loved his effort in a Saturday morning loss to the Utah Force. Sylvestre recorded 13 points in that game and showed his mix of attacks at the glass and his defensive intensity. I love the upside of the Ocoee product.
Tyvon Thomas & Jordan Glass | Team Wright Basketball
Team Wright Basketball got some good production from two workers. 6-0 guard Tyvon Thomas was a lightning bolt and a clear pure athletic point man on Saturday morning in a win over SBT White. He pushed the ball in transition over and over, shot at a high clip and takes smart shots. I was super impressed. As for Jordan Glass, the 5-10 guard was one of the top shooters in the gym. He was firing on all cylinders in that game and will hurt you from deep if left open. Glass is super energetic. Both play at Ft. Lauderdale Elite Academy.
Corey Love | 6-1 | Atlanta Celtics South
Over the weekend, the Atlanta Celtics South had another key performer by the name of Corey Love. A very flashy and quick twitch guard, he averaged 18 PPG for the weekend. His driving ability hurts defenses because he is so bursty and makes decisions in the blink of an eye both as a passer and finisher. Love is in for a big year at Liberty County
Landen Giles & Bowen Davies Bowen Davies 6'8" | PF Murray | 2022 State UT | Utah Force
The Utah Force play in sync and behind Landen Giles and Bowen Davies Bowen Davies 6'8" | PF Murray | 2022 State UT , the effort was there for every matchup. Giles, a 6-2 guard from Stansbury shot the ball very well in a win over SOH Elite on Saturday morning. His assertiveness was great to see as he wasn’t shy on either ends of the floor. As for Davies, the 6-8 Murray forward is scrappy inside and has very good foot speed. Once he adds more muscle, he’ll be well on his way.
Ryan Neal | 6-2 | TNT Fury White
This is a highly skilled guard right here. Ryan Neal of TNT Fury White had a steady weekend, hitting from the mid-range on stop and pop shots, drives to the rim and he can shoot it from deep when needed. Neal is a highly intelligent guard who doesn’t back down on either end of the floor and he plays with a ton of pace.
Jackson Lahmann & Jonah Hamilton | Deep South Blue Devils
Splitting the weekend at 2-2, the Deep South Blue Devils 5-11 guard duo Jackson Lahmann and Jonah Hamilton were fun to watch. Lahmann, a Cherokee guard can absolutely shoot it and his polished jumper was on full display on the weekend. He is a surefire shooter. Hamilton, a Etowah guard was equally as impressive with his jumper and range. Both are fun to watch feed off of one another.
Mark Robles | 5-10 | Dyimond Rising Stars
For the Dyimond Rising Stars, 5-10 guard Mark Robles shined in a loss to the Quiet Storm on Saturday afternoon. He finished with a team-best 17 points and hit some key important 3’s to keep his team right in it. He’s a very instinctive shooter and a developing player.
