Some of the players in this group have gained national attention, while others are gaining traction on the west coast, then there’s a few who’s looking to make their marks as solid prospects from the area.
Chris Bunch Chris Bunch 6'7" | SG Wasatch Academy | 2022 State #74 Nation UT 6’6 Guard, De La Salle HS (Concord, CA)
Bunch is being recruited on the National level, he has interest from Pac-12, and ACC Schools, and more. His 6’6 frame has started to fill out. He’s maturing as a player and his best days are in front of him. He’s improved his offensive skill set, he’s a threat on the perimeter, with his improving handles to go by you, and ability to knock down the three. At 6’6 and long he can shoot over defenders on his dribble drive pull-up in the paint. He has good form and a soft touch.
Aidan Mahaney Aidan Mahaney 6'3" | PG Campolindo | 2022 State #71 Nation CA-N 6’3 Guard, Campolindo HS (Moraga, CA)
Mahaney is a winner in his two seasons on the Varsity at Campo he’s won a State Championship and was ready to go after another. He’s being recruited on the National level, with interest from several Pac-12 and WCC Schools, I’m sure more will come. He’s about as calm and confident as any player I’ve seen in his class. He’s got that combo guard ability, he’s effective on the wings and at the top. He’s an effective scorer and player in many ways. 19.3 ppg, 44-percent from three, 2.4 assists.
Jeremiah Dargan Jeremiah Dargan 6'4" | CG Clayton Valley Charter | 2022 State CA-N 6’4 Combo Guard, De La Salle HS (Concord, CA)
Dargan can handle the point guard position, like any good young prospect he had some growing pains at the position, nevertheless he has good handles and the strength to make his way into the paint for pull-ups or strong finishes, he plays with good balance and control. His ability to push in transition is when he’s at his best. A tough rebounding guard, a good defender. He has interest from several teams in the Big Sky Conference.
Matt Radell Matt Radell 6'6" | PF Campolindo | 2022 State CA-N 6’7 Forward, Campolindo HS (Moraga, CA)
Radell can get overlooked at times, but he has been a consistent performer for the last two seasons on the Campo Championship squad. He’s a tough minded defender in the post area, he goes after rebounds, he runs the floor, and he has improved his footwork around the basket, he has a soft touch, and can finish with either hand around the rim. As any young prospect would do, he’s worked to improve his outside game, it’s coming around, he has developed a good mid-range jumper on the baseline and at the elbows. 8.4 ppg, 4.7 rebs.
Noah Clifford 6’6 Forward, De La Salle HS (Concord, CA)
Clifford is in my Glue Guy Club, he’s a versatile player who’s value doesn’t show up very often in the box score. He’s a stocky player who doesn’t mind the physical banging in the post, he’s a solid post defender that uses his feet and body for leverage against bigger players. He sets good screens for his teammates, his passing skills, especially from the high post doesn’t get enough credit. Cliffords offensive production should increase as he looks to be more assertive on the offensive end, his elbow jumper is improved and he’s gotten better on the drive to the paint.
Devin Carson 6’1 Guard, Deer Valley HS (Antioch, CA)
Carson earned first team All-League in the Bay League. The 6’1 guard has excellent ball handling skills, he’s fast and quick in transition with the ball in his hands, he’s sees the floor well, and delivers solid passes to teammates. He can snake his way into the paint to finish drives and he’s a knock down shooter from 3 when he gets it going. He’s on Wright’s players watch list.
Brady Cook Brady Cook 5'10" | PG Northgate | 2022 State CA-N 6’2 Guard, Northgate HS (Walnut Creek, CA)
Cook is a prospect who has steadily improved his game over the past two season on the Varsity squad. Cook plays with a high IQ, has a good understanding of the game. He can play either guard position, He’s physical, has good handles, and is determined on the drive into the paint. A pass first guard when playing the point, who’s patient and in command of the offense. He’s improved his shooting on wings. A tough defender always in good position.
