Prep Hoops Indiana: The Expo – Team 5 Evaluations

All of our events at Prep Hoops Indiana generate a lot of attention across the state. However, the growth of The Expo is a major point of pride for our team as we wrap up the summer. This year we double the size of the event bringing in nearly 120 prospects in the Classes of 2027 and 2028. Also, more than just the raw numbers, the level of talent was very impressive. We hosted over 40 Top 100 prospects today and had college coaches from the Division II, Division III, and NAIA levels in attendance. This was truly one of the best exposure events of the year that you could attend as a prospect.   As always, we will be unleashing a ton of content over the next week or so coming out of The Expo. We will have evaluations of every player in attendance post on a team-by-team basis. Also, top performers, new names, and more will be highlighted. It did not take long for him to become one of the more productive players on this team, as he was a willing rebounder and shot-maker. I thought he was pretty savvy at times both on and off the ball, and every time he got a look, he shot the ball with confidence. I love his ability to space the floor and knock down the three-ball.     The Brownsburg Bulldogs are going to be a team with a lot of guard depth, and one of those players is going to be senior shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='3693581' first='Chase' last='Wilson']. When watching him, I thought he was one of the more explosive players for Team 5 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Expo. He takes really good shots and is capable of being a microwave scorer when he finds his groove on the floor. Just an overall really consistent player when he is on the floor.     A player for Team 5 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Expo who I was impressed with due to his high motor was [player_tooltip player_id='2859786' first='Conner' last='Gamble'] of McCutcheon HS. A senior wing at 6'4", Gamble showed some really nice athleticism and an ability to play off the bounce. He was a willing defender and took his defender off the dribble multiple times throughout the day.     An under-the-radar player for Team 5 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Expo is [player_tooltip player_id='2872508' first='Malachi' last='Fitzgerald'] of Purdue Poly High School. He is a longer guard who can play well both on and off the ball. I thought his best attributes were his ability to communicate well on the defensive end and move the ball. He also had a few nice cuts to the basket.     One of the best pure shot creators I saw for Team 5 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Expo was easily [player_tooltip player_id='2807662' first='Scout' last='Gray'] of South Dearborn HS. An under-the-radar guard out of the 2027 class, Gray really wasted no time in establishing himself as a pure scorer for his team on Sunday. The 6'1" guard showed a nice dribble pull-up game from 15 feet and was overall just a tough bucket-getter. He also displayed his passing ability at times.     Without question, one of the top guards I watched for Team 5 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Expo was [player_tooltip player_id='3585165' first='Tracy' last='Sheppard III'] out of Goshen High School. While he is not the biggest guard, there were very few players who could match his quickness. Super dynamic and shifty, Sheppard was extremely quick in traffic and was dicing up the defense in the lane. He hit some big-time jumpers as well.     One of the quicker guards for Team 5 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Expo was [player_tooltip player_id='2560337' first='Amare' last='Blakely'] of Speedway High School. At around 5'8", Blakely is super comfortable with the ball in his hands and loves to push the pace at any point. A true creator for himself and his teammates, a couple of plays that stood out to me were a no-look pass and a smooth-looking three from the top of the key. He has a good feel with the ball in his hands.     The Liberty Christian Lions are going to be one of the more experienced teams in Class 1A this season, and one of their top guards will be [player_tooltip player_id='3772808' first='Kaijier' last='Boyd']. Boyd was a fill-in for Team 5 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Expo and stepped in and showed some solid things on the floor. He is a shorter guard who has a good motor and can play both on and off the ball. He had a couple of strong takes to the basket throughout the day.     One of the primary big men for Team 5 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Expo was Lan Banard of Sri-West High School. Banard, a long 6'6" power forward, showed some nice things around the basket in the few games I watched him play. He was tough around the rim and showed some nice rolls off screens, where the guard would often find him. He rebounds well, shows good mobility around the basket, and has solid footwork.
