About Amare

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a tough on ball defender first, point guard that likes to get my teammates involved by causing turnovers, getting paint touches, or reading defenses to find the right play. I take pride in my ball handling and like to play uptempo but understand the importance of patience and spacing in the half court set.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a stay balanced mentality in everything I do. I never want to be easily moved so I practice my craft continually and focus on becoming a student of the game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm involved with my church with the youth program and is well-known to basketball community for my video editing and photos.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Playing youth sports and being a point guard teaches you how to navigate as a leader and working as a unit in the toughest situations. I'm also trying to be a positive influence with my family, my community, and with my peers.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Moving a lot, switching from big to little schools, having older brothers and sisters at least 10 years older, and now being the only child in the house are some of my personal challenges that I've hade to adapt to. My toughest challenge is being a smaller athlete and having to always work twice as hard every day to compete and stay on top.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to find a college that I can focus on my videography/photography and where I can fit in as a true point guard.

Tri-West had a few standout sophomores at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp on Sunday, and one of them was Amare Blakely Amare Blakely Amare Blakely 5'7" | PG Triwest | 2028 IN . At 5’7″, Blakely was one of the more crafty guards I watched, able to create for himself and for others. He will be a player to watch for Tri-West this upcoming season.

Blakely was one of several prospects from Tri-West High School that attended our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. New head coach Tommy Strine will have some young talent to work with over the next few seasons. Blakely was very quick with the ball in his hands and was able to get to the basket where he was a creative finisher. The 5’7″ point guard wasn’t afraid to go at bigger defenders in the paint.
