Five Nevada Upperclassmen Forwards Who Deserve Some Recognition

In this article, I highlight five standout upperclassmen forwards from across the Las Vegas area.    I attended one of Coronado's intramurals last week and was happy to see [player_tooltip player_id='2484289' first='Devaughn' last='Dorrough'] back in action. He is set to be one of the most dominant forwards in the state this season, and he possesses a physical frame that very few Nevada prospects can match. He is incredibly effective around the rim, using his footwork and touch to consistently convert close-range shots. I've also always been impressed by his ability to collect offensive rebounds, and he can throw down powerful dunks when given the opportunity. Dorrough will also be running with the OTE Diamond Doves, and he's sure to make his presence felt at The Border League in a couple of weeks.     [player_tooltip player_id='2654821' first='Braylen' last='Williams'] recently moved up to the No. 2 spot, and it'll be exciting to see what he accomplishes with the Bishop Gorman Gaels this fall and winter. I fully expect him to be one of their go-to options on offense, as he possesses a wide variety of moves that he can use to get a bucket. Williams is one of the strongest slashers around, and he has no problem throwing down powerful dunks once he builds momentum. He's also not the type of player defenders want to leave unmarked beyond the arc, as he can confidently knock down triples when given a clean look. Beyond his offensive ability, he's a dog on defense who regularly wreaks havoc. He currently holds one Division I offer, and I wouldn't be surprised to see his recruitment pick up very soon.     In case you hadn't seen or heard, versatile SF [player_tooltip player_id='2468244' first='Jaden' last='Redding'] is now at Liberty High School. He is a prospect who should help the Patriots in several ways this season. Offensively, he leverages his burst and long strides to blow past defenders who attempt to slow him down, and he is capable of converting difficult finishes around the rim. He can also knock down shots from the perimeter and dish out assists when he draws a double-team. Defensively, Redding consistently applies ball pressure with his active hands, length and energy. Considering his well-rounded impact, his recruitment certainly has a chance to pick up.     [player_tooltip player_id='2412305' first='Nick' last='Odum']'s stock skyrocketed throughout the spring and summer. He has climbed to No. 5 in Nevada's 2028 rankings, and he is now nationally ranked as well, coming in at No. 170 on Rivals. He is essentially a prototypical small forward with a unique build that gives him advantages on both ends of the court. Defensively, he has no problem jumping into passing lanes, and he uses his wingspan to block shots. On offense, he drains pull-up jumpers, connects on catch-and-shoot threes and leaks out in transition to rock the rim. Look for him to continue ascending in the coming months.     Ty'Jir Broxie is entering his final high school season, and it'll be exciting to watch him go toe-to-toe with some of the state's other top forwards. He has a real knack for establishing inside position, and there aren't many players who can guard him single-handedly. He also absorbs contact well and makes frequent trips to the charity stripe. Broxie gets it done defensively too, as he regularly alters shots and racks up blocks. He is also capable of collecting double-digit rebounds between both ends of the court. He currently holds one Division I offer from Alcorn State, and there could be more on the way.
