2027s who could be tone-setters at the Expo

The Expo is this week and our showcases are about getting out in front of our scouts and going at it with some of the states best. It's about measuring yourself but also putting yourself out there and creating a buzz before the season. These are all players who we've seen have their moments, but still find themselves lower than what they probably should be. A big performance here could change our outlook of them as players heading into their Senior seasons. Mooney to me is one of the under-the-radar gems that I feel will have a blow-up season. We got to see some of those moments this Summer where he was a standout at different Prep Hoops events. He gets to be one of the big pieces for Columbine this year, and he seems ready for the new role. They put the ball in his hands more during grassroots season, and he showed that he could handle that responsibility. Mooney is strong, he uses his size and goes through defenders. He rebounds well, sets screens and rolls, and finishes well with either hand at the rim. He'll be a player who I feel will turn some heads this year, and this is a perfect opportunity for him to kickstart that and get on more radars heading into Senior year. Big season loading for him. Het out to the event.     Lincoln is a prospect that it's hard not to root for. He's a grinder in every sense, and you can see the growth in his game each time out. We'd love to get him out at the showcase because he embodies all of the things that a showcase is about. He plays hard, he's locked in on both ends of the floor, and plays the right way. Lincoln is a team-first player who scores when he needs to, is a versatile defender, can space the floor with his shot as well as make timely cuts, and is going to challenge those around him. I am excited to see what his post high school career is, but while we're here, I want to make the best of it, and think he should come out and show everyone what he's got. I'm a [player_tooltip player_id='2821255' first='Lincoln' last='Meschuk'] fan.     Franz is a prospect who we've always been curious about because every time that we see him, he shows out and leaves us wanting to see that translate into the season. He's a sniper from deep with a quick trigger and range, and if you put him alongside other guards who feed into that, he can be a dangerous weapon. We like what we saw from him during the grassroots scene as a floor spacer that caused real gravity. He lets it fly, is a confident shooter, and if he got out to our showcase, he can show that there's more to his game, than we realize. He's a great example of a player who can benefit from more eyes on him, and a solid showing at the showcase can speed up that process.     Justice is a player that is probably better than where we have him in the rankings, and this year I believe that he will get the c chance to show us that his game is better than advertised. He can start that out by getting out to the event and showing that he has a game that translates. We liked what we saw from Justice at the UNC camp as he allowed the game to come to him, he attacked from the high post, and scored in bunches. When he gets in a zone where he's demanding the ball and attacking off the move, he's very difficult to stop, and T-Ride will give him those moments this year with a deep squad that will need that inside presence. He rebounds well, is a willing passer, and can start the break. That's what our showcase needs, and also if he does that at a high level this year, I do feel as if colleges should be checking in to get him there. I have high expectations for Justice this year, and I think an appearance at the showcase can boost his stock.     Matney is starting to develop a balanced game, and with the way that Arapahoe will play this year, they'll need him to step up and be one of their best players. Matney has the potential to be as he's comfortable with the ball in his hands, but also can play off-ball and let someone else operate as he works around them. He cuts, knocks down 3's when the shot is there, creates for others, and we've been seeing that balance start to separate him as a player. We just want to see it more consistently, and he can put that all on display at our showcase this weekend. A big performance from him this weekend can get more eyes on him, but also boost his stock even more. With the other guards around him, this could be the turning point for him that I feel he should capitalize on.     We've had some up and down moments from Javier over the Summer as his highs are extremely high, and we could see him being a very capable player whose game translates, and other times that he's floating out there trying to figure out where to make his mark. Him getting out to the showcase and putting on a solid performance would get the bad taste out of our mouths, but also could kick start a big-time season where he could really be the difference maker for Castle View. There's so much potential here as Javier has good size, he's versatile, and when he's in a groove, he's a nightmare matchup. His ceiling is higher than a ton of players in the state, and now it's time for him to put it on display every single night and go prove it. The showcase could be the start of that.
