The Minneapolis City Preview

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A season ago the Washburn Millers and the South Tigers were each 10-2 in league play last season meaning Washburn has had a share of the City title for three straight years. Can they make it four? Minneapolis North just make their task waaaaaaay tougher. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Conference Commentary</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Title Contenders</strong>: Washburn, North</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Minneapolis North will be the big favorite because they have by far the most talent. Washburn will be second because they have 5-6 guys that are good basketball players. North will have the upper hand but Washburn will have size and defenders, if they can play with the right chemistry and toughness, they can make North's expected success tougher. With North it's all about how that group comes together. They will likely be more talented than most and just overwhelm teams, but if the group doesn't gel right, that would open the door for Washburn.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As for sections, North will be a big favorite in their Class AA Section 5 which is not as deep as it was last year. That said, MCA, Holy Family, Southwest Christian and HLWW will have good teams. As for Washburn, they will be a top 25 team in Class AAAA basketball and still be about 4-6 in their section. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Compete with Most</strong>: Southwest, Roosevelt, Camden</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The next group, the Lakers, Teddies and Patriots. The Lakers and Patriots each have 3-4 starters back which should give them competitive teams although they also lost a talented main option. Teddies have less back but the Teddies also have some good up and comers. Roosevelt is in 3AAA where anything can happen so they can dream of state. Camden is in the De section so that's like slaying a dragon with pebbles while Southwest is in 6AAA where [program_tooltip program_id='2075852' first='Spartans' last=''] of a few kinds need to be conquered to have hopes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Rebuilding</strong>: Edison, South</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>South had four really good pieces back and it seems like they have one at this point because of transfers (maybe Gales returns and they have two?).
