Summer break is officially over. Several school districts have started back and most of the state will be in class by the end of this week. With the official start of practice only 2 months away, let's take some time and look at which rising Sophomores impressed this summer.

Most Likely to Succeed:

[player_tooltip player_id='2851845' first='Mason' last='Grivna'], Ballard - This one is pretty easy. Mason is a top prospect in the class of 2029 at the national level. He's already been offered by several of college basketball's "blue blood" programs and more are likely to come after him before graduation. At this point, the only question is how long Mason stays in Kentucky.

Biggest Stock Riser:

[player_tooltip player_id='2381498' first='Brycen' last='Eubanks'], Mayfield - After an injury shortened Freshman season, Brycen used this summer to jump start his recruiting. Already earning offers from Eastern Kentucky and Southern Miss, Eubanks is working his way on to the national radar, a little at a time. If he stays healthy this winter, Mayfield will be an issue in the first region!

Most Impactful Transfer:

[player_tooltip player_id='2851875' first='Jeremiah' last='Queen'], Trinity - Sort of like Grivna, this particular category is a proverbial slam dunk. "Butta" making the move from Seneca to Trinity made some serious waves for both programs. With his offensive skill set and athleticism, Queen is already a problem but if he gets the defensive training that Trinity is known for, he's going to go up another level.

Best Two Sport Athlete:

[player_tooltip player_id='2851868' first='Anthony' last='Davis'], Bowling Green - It's early for this but I think Davis could be the runaway for this award for the class over the next few years. Anthony has already earned multiple D1 football offers as a quarterback and I think he's a D1 basketball player, potentially. Regardless of the path he chooses for college, I cannot think of a better two sport athlete in this class.

Most Long Term Potential:

[player_tooltip player_id='2983291' first='Aaron' last='Huffman'], Moore - Aaron has all the measureables you could want in a young prospect. At his age, he's probably still growing, too. Bigs are slower to develop (usually) and Huffman is no different. With his defensive instincts and growing offensive skill set, Aaron has big time potential and could be a top 3-5 player in this class before all is said and done.

Blue Collar Award:

[player_tooltip player_id='2920732' first='Matt' last='Withrow'], Oldham County - I have always appreciated how hard Matt plays and am consistently impressed with his pure scoring ability. Withrow is a strong guard who can get to the bucket repeatedly but is also a very willing playmaker. If you have to win a game right now, Withrow is a guy you want on your roster.

Deepest Sleeper Award:

[player_tooltip player_id='2983289' first='JD' last='Hayes'], Montgomery County - One of the oldest sayings in sports is "can't teach size" but JD is also skilled in addition to his size. I think if he puts it all together, Hayes could and will be a D1 prospect. In my limited viewings, he played more as a catch and shoot wing but as his skills grow and he adds bulk to his wiry frame, he can be a serious matchup problem for opposition in the 10th region.

Summer break is officially over. Several school districts have started back and most of the state will be in class by the end of this week. With the official start of practice only 2 months away, let's take some time and look at which rising Sophomores impressed this summer.
