With the grassroots season in the rearview, it's now time to set our sights on the high school season. Before we know it, students will be back in school and fall workout season will be upon us. It's time to shift gears and break down some of the prospects to monitor this winter and no better way than tracking the transfers to either remained in the area and chose to make a move across town or ones that are new to the scene. Even though it's the beginning of August, we'll see a few more transfers become official over the next week or two. For now, below are some of the impact transfer 2028 wings/bigs who will be significant adds to their respective programs.

For the impact transfer guards of the 2027 class, click here.

For the impact transfer wings/bigs of the 2028 class, click here.

Nelson made the move to Bullis from St. Andrew's Episcopal and reclassed from 2027 to 2028. The extra year should benefit the 6'2" lead guard and allow him to further polish his skillset and add size to his frame. With Bullis losing some key contributors from last year's team, it was mandatory to find valuable prospect to fill this year's roster in order to potentially make a run in the IAC. Nelson is a cornerstone type of player who controls the pace of a game and does a nice job of knowing when to switch the tempo to a setting that will benefit his team most. He plays with mature pace, has fluid shooting mechanics from midrange and three and also continues to improve his floor vision as a distributor.

Brown made the move within conference from Good Counsel to St. John's (DC) where he'll have a good chance of contending for the WCAC title as the Cadets look to avenge last year's championship loss in a historic matchup against PVI. Likely to be featured more off the ball, Brown has built the reputation as a legitimate three-level scoring threat who can provide a presence defensively as well, specifically in the passing lanes. There will be spurts in games where Brown has the keys as the point guard and has shown some growth in this aspect, but he'll be at his best attacking off the catch, getting into gaps and breaking down the defense as one of the many weapons that head coach Pat O'Connor will have this season.

Argueta transferred from St. John's (DC) to St. Andrew's Episcopal where he'll have a massive increase in usage and the freedom from head coach Kevin Jones to run the show. There were signs of great returns back in June when Argueta packed the stat sheet throughout DMV Live with 10.2PPG, 6.7APG and 5.5RPG. His twitch and quickness from the point of attack will be an emphasis for all opposing teams this season. He gets into the paint and plays off two effectively, has the patience to wait for the defense to slip up on a rotation before delivering and manipulates well with his eyes on his attack. Defensively he's a pest who can disrupt the flow of the opposing team's offense with constant pressure and active hands.

In a more recent development, Rogers decided to make a move from St. Charles to Southern Maryland Christian Academy and reclass to 2028 in the process. The sharpshooting lead guard is coming off a junior campaign for St. Charles averaging 23.2PPG, 4RPG, 3SPG and 2.8APG. He showed good sign with [program_tooltip program_id='3541711' first='Team' last='Takeover National'] this summer where he displayed his lethal long-range shooting both off the bounce or off the catch. The gravity he demands beyond the arc allows for the floor to open up for both he and teammates to attack driving lanes more freely. If he can sustain somewhat similar numbers at SMCA while improving his point guard skillset, he'll certainly be a name to monitor moving forward.

Arulefela remains a bit under the radar, but is looking to change that with his move to Clinton Grace. The underappreciated combo guard brings a fierce two-way presence and can serve as a dependable catch-and-shoot threat or being leaned on as a guy who gets the offense into half court sets. Simply put, he's a valuable connective piece on the offensive end who brings a low maintenance approach as a guard, which is rare in today's game. Defensively he brings just as much value where he can use his sturdy frame and lateral quickness to keep opposing guards out of the paint. It'll be interesting to see how this Clinton Grace roster shapes out for the 2026-27 season, but the recent additions will have the Eagles in the thick of things once again as they embark on a challenging schedule.
