Making Noise: Summer Standouts in South Dakota

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Every summer, a group of players finds a way to separate themselves from the pack, and South Dakota was full of those moments this summer. From high school gyms for team camps to club tournaments loaded with talent, there was no shortage of chances for players to prove themselves against good competition.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good number of them did just that. In this article, we're breaking down some of the South Dakota hoopers who made the most of their summer, building momentum that should carry right into the winter season. Bo found his jump shot and scored well at all levels. He is a difference-maker. Brady will be asked to take on the scoring load for DRSM, he is more than capable. He battled with an injury during club ball, but came up big in the last tourney. Carter is an athletic wing with skill, he is very good with the ball in his hands. Asmussen moves well and has a quick first step when attacking the rim. He is also a strong finisher at the basket and an above-average 3-point shooter. Like many of his teammates, Chris can score from multiple levels. Weber is a lead guard and a big-time perimeter shooter. Easton is smart, skilled, and sees the floor extremely well. Baumberger is a long wing who will take on a serious leadership role. His role will increase drastically from his sophomore season, when the Cards went to the State Tournament. Jesse took a huge jump this summer and will be a piece of the puzzle for the Crusaders. Zak is a do-it-all player. Karson has sharp handles, moves explosively, and scores from all three levels. He also defends 1 through 4. He was surrounded by talented teammates and improved his overall game. Major shoots is long, shoots it hot, and is skilled with the rock. These two will be asked to take on a larger varsity role this season. Colter and Isaac led the JV team to an undefeated season last year. They each had big simmers for the Cards. Coach Fitzgerald is looking forward to getting them out on the court this winter.
