The High Academic Showcase brought together a talented group of student-athletes who combined high-level academics with impressive basketball ability. The guard play was one of the biggest strengths of the event, featuring floor generals, scoring threats, and tough two-way competitors who consistently impacted winning. Below is a look at some of the top backcourt performers who elevated their stock with their all-around play.

[player_tooltip player_id='2385372' first='Noah' last='Corro'] | 2028 | St. Laurence

Corro continues to impress with his poise and feel for the game. The energetic guard played under control while consistently getting downhill with purpose, making quality decisions with the basketball and delivering accurate passes. He also showed the ability to heat up from beyond the arc, while his pull-up jumper in transition highlighted the confidence and versatility he brings to the offensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532358' first='Zaire' last='Green'] | 2027 | Whitney Young

Green proved why he is such a dangerous scoring threat, catching fire after a slow start and becoming one of the toughest covers on the floor. The physical guard relentlessly attacked the rim in both transition and the half court, while his high motor translated to disruptive defense with steals on and off the ball. He complemented his downhill game by knocking down perimeter shots, making him a complete offensive weapon.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432131' first='Isaiah' last='Hall'] | 2027 | Brooks

Hall showcased the scoring ability that has makes him one of the more intriguing guards in the Chicago Public League. The wiry guard knocked down multiple three-pointers while using his handle to create separation and get to his spots off the bounce. His combination of perimeter shooting and shot creation gives him the potential to be one of the top offensive producers in the CPS this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2349619' first='Brady' last='Harris'] | 2027 | Francis Parker

Harris continued his strong summer with another polished performance. A reliable perimeter shooter, he consistently stretched the defense before using his strength and speed to attack the lane and create opportunities for teammates. Even after battling through a leg injury suffered early in the event, Harris remained productive and showed the toughness and leadership that make him one of the state's more dependable senior guards.

Brandon Hightower Jr. | 2027 | Hyde Park

Hightower's length and creativity stood out throughout the showcase. The crafty guard handled the ball with confidence and used his long frame to finish effectively around the basket. His smooth left-handed jumper from both mid-range and beyond the arc makes him a difficult matchup, especially when combined with his ability to create off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532344' first='London' last='Rome'] | 2027 | Payton

Rome bounced back from a quiet start with an outstanding second-half showing that highlighted his two-way upside. He sparked his run with a chase-down block before finishing coast-to-coast, then quickly followed with back-to-back perimeter makes, including an and-one three-pointer. His length, athleticism, and defensive versatility allow him to impact the game on both ends of the floor, and he should continue to attract college attention during his senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2829613' first='Danny' last='Ruffin'] | 2027 | Homewood-Flossmoor

Ruffin played with toughness and competitiveness every time he stepped on the floor. He consistently pressured the defense by attacking the basket, finishing through contact, and making smart reads once help defenders collapsed. His ability to rebound outside his area and knock down perimeter shots adds even more value to an already well-rounded game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125614' first='Dino' last='Giannini'] | 2027 | Ridgewood

Giannini once again displayed the qualities that make him an effective lead guard. Shifty with the basketball, he consistently created scoring opportunities for himself and others while changing speeds to keep defenders off balance. Defensively, he was relentless on the ball, using active hands, instincts, and effort to generate steals and disrupt opposing guards.

[player_tooltip player_id='2431475' first='David' last='Udoiwod'] | 2027 | Geneva

Udoiwod made his presence felt as a productive two-way guard. His quick hands and anticipation created turnovers that quickly turned into offense, while his ability to score from multiple levels kept defenses honest. Whether knocking down open jumpers or setting up teammates with smart passes, Udoiwod demonstrated a complete skill set that impacts the game on both ends of the floor.
