Fairmont State Elite Camp Eye-Catchers Vol. 1

Ramsey is a fundamentally sound guard who left a positive impact on the game with his all-around approach. He plays with patience on the offensive end and does a nice job playing off two feet and using ball fakes to create advantages. Ramsey always seems to be one step ahead, playing chess while others are playing checkers. He also does a nice job finding teammates with his passing and can lead the break by advancing the basketball in transition. With his feel, decision-making, and ability to make others better, Ramsey is a player who should have plenty of small-college programs knocking at his doorstep.     Ziegler is a bullish in-between guard who used his physicality to his advantage throughout camp. He is a ballhawk who consistently seems to find himself in the right spots on the floor to convert high-percentage scoring chances. Ziegler also showed that he is a capable threat from behind the arc and cannot be left open on the perimeter. I liked how active his motor was throughout camp and the way he consistently found ways to impact the game.     Beck-James is a hyper-athletic guard who thrives on making thunderous plays above the rim. He applies great ball pressure and uses his length to cause havoc defensively, giving him the versatility to guard multiple positions. Beck-James does a nice job attacking the basket and can finish around the rim. At times, his physical tools seem to move faster than his decision-making, so continuing to slow the game down and play under control will be important for his development. He has plenty of untapped potential and upside, making him an intriguing fit for small-college and Division two JUCO programs     Johnson impressed with his ability to play either guard spot and provide value on both ends of the floor. He is a threat to pressure the defense by attacking the paint and consistently getting downhill. Johnson also cannot be left open from three, as he has the ability to make defenses pay from the perimeter. He is very fluid with his movements and plays with a high motor defensively, where he applies pressure to the ball and makes things difficult for opposing guards. His best basketball is still on the horizon.     This was the second weekend this month I was able to see Welch compete at an elite camp, and he once again made his presence felt. Welch is a ferocious attacker who uses his blend of size, strength, and speed to consistently wear down opponents. He was one of the best scorers I saw throughout the entire camp, showing the ability to put pressure on the defense and find ways to produce. Welch is a prospect who should be firmly on the radar of scholarship-level programs.
