Ball State Elite Camp – Top Performers, Part One

The grassroots season is in the rearview mirror and school is just starting up so formal workouts have not started yet. However, we still make sure to take advantage of opportunities to get in the gym when events are taking place. On Saturday Ball State hosted an Elite Camp and invited Prep Hoops Indiana to be in attendance. It was a very well-attended event with a lot of talented prospects. Banica lived above the rim consistently finishing on the rim run, on the roll, or out of the dunker's spot. He also flashed the ability to finish with both hands via post moves over either shoulder. The Davis and Walker backcourt is going to make them a very tough team to deal with. The 6'5" wing has so much two-way versatility. He can serve as a primary ball handler and playmaker offensively, convert against mismatches due to his size and strength, and switch across all positions defensively. He is a dynamic offensive talent without forcing anything. The scoring opportunities come to him, he serves as a very good secondary playmaker, and is so fluid in everything that he does on the floor. Johnson has impressive two-way upside on the perimeter and can toggle between multiple positions in the backcourt. His shot-making and playmaking were on display at the Ball State Elite Camp. He is another summer stock-riser that played very well at Saturday's Ball State Elite Camp. The 6'5" guard is a legitimate ball handler and playmaker with obvious positional size and length. He made some tough shots off of the dribble on Saturday and always flashes his vision and passing ability. The 6'1" left-handed playmaker was very good in the game we watched at Ball State Elite Camp. He has some physicality about him in the backcourt showcasing the ability to play through contact and finish against size at the rim. Thomas shot it in from the perimeter, created opportunities for his teammates off of the bounce, and finished at the end of his drives. The 6'2" guard was a massive stock-riser in the spring jumping into the Top 50 of our rankings and earning scholarship offers from the likes of NAIA powerhouse Indiana Wesleyan. He has excellent perimeter footwork, is a fluid athlete as a driver, and proved himself as a potential three-level scorer in live 5-on-5 action.
