After making strong impressions throughout the summer during scholastic or grassroots ball, these players have positioned themselves for a notable jump in the August Update. Here's a look at some of the class's biggest stock-risers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2559297' first='Noah' last='Sanders'] leads off the list of Stock-Rising 2028s in the August Rankings Update. He has been up and down over the last 12 months, but #11 is the highest he has been, and for good reason. Sanders showed lots of good things with Ridge View in June, getting a lot more room to handle the ball and make shots. It will be a fight for minutes as always with the Blazers, but if he brings his defensive motor along with the intriguing tools, this will be his best chance yet to impact the game frequently.

Speaking of physical tools, that's exactly what sets [player_tooltip player_id='2982762' first='Jaden' last='Ray'] just inside the Top 25 of the Prep Hoops South Carolina Class of 2028 Rankings. Ray is one of the biggest bodies remaining in the Palmetto State after several out-of-state departures, so he should be one for in-state programs to monitor. He didn't have a ton of usage for Game Elite in 3SSB play, but he was reliable in his role as a rebounder and shot blocker. Look for Jaden to continue to emerge with Darlington in his junior year.

One of the most tangible improvements of any player this summer was the shooting of [player_tooltip player_id='2816326' first='Preston' last='Heffner']. He greatly improved his outside stroke, becoming a more confident and capable weapon from deep range. This development has made Preston a much more well-rounded scorer, now giving him the third level to his three-level scoring mold. Heffner is still at his best driving the ball against rotating defenses, so if he can add the ability to beat defenders off the dribble in more creative ways, he could see another big boost in his stock.

Kam debuted at #75 in the Prep Hoops South Carolina Class of 2028 Rankings in June, and now he makes a solid jump to #62 in August. Jones will be in a new jersey for the 2026-27 Season, moving over to Greenville High School after starting his career at Hillcrest High School. He is one of the craftiest scorers in the Upstate, which is even more impressive considering a lack of a true physical advantage. He hits tough shots off the dribble in the mid-range, can finish around bodies at the rim, and will set teammates up, so it will be interesting to see just how he fits with a new-look Red Raiders team this year.

One of the more intriguing guards outside of the Top 50 from a physical standpoint is Ferguson. Kaden is a well-rounded athlete, also competing in football and track-and-field, which outline his physical traits. On the hardwood, he has shown flashes on multiple occasions, including the PHL Finals playing up with [program_tooltip program_id='2415221' first='Upward' last='Stars Upstate'] 17U. Ferguson is at his best when he can attack defenders with speed and strength, so as he continues to learn the game and how to play within the offense, he has the chance to be a really good player.

The biggest riser in the August Rankings Update of the Prep Hoops South Carolina Class of 2028 Rankings is [player_tooltip player_id='2495155' first='Davaris' last='Lambert']. Lambert immediately impressed in his first month at McBee High School after coming over from Lamar High School, showing lots of traits to boost him nearly 50 spots to #64 overall. Davaris is a guard with an exciting combination of strength and explosiveness, allowing him to attack defenders in multiple ways to keep them off balance. With more growth as a shooter and facilitator, it isn't hard to see a world where Lambert ends up even higher in these rankings.

Tyshawn is another player who rose more than 25 spots in the August Rankings Update. He was one of the most impressive players in the first half of the AAU season, in my view, showing an improved motor to go along with the physicality to dominate. Mackey has become a much more engaged defender and rebounder, allowing him to play multiple positions and be impactful around more offensive-minded guards. Tyshawn also showed some flashes with his three-point shot, which would only be icing on the cake for a strong, slashing wing.

Jonah may be an under-the-radar name in the Palmetto State, but he is one whom I have lots of stock in. I've always been impressed with his length and mobility, but he's gradually expanding his game on both ends of the floor. He has a great base as a rim-protecting, rim-running big man, but he proved to be a comfortable shooter from 12 feet and a consistent free-throw shooter this summer with [program_tooltip program_id='3599030' first='No' last='Guts No Glory SC']. If Kenon can add a little bit of strength and bounce, he will have college coaches knocking on his door this time next year.

Rounding out the list of Stock Rising 2028s in the Prep Hoops South Carolina Rankings is [player_tooltip player_id='3636999' first='William' last='Scott']. Scott is the second Greenville Red Raider to make this list, and he did so thanks to big shooting showings for Greenville in June and [program_tooltip program_id='2845772' first='Hoopzters' last=''] during grassroots play. William is arguably one of the best high-volume shooters in the junior class, which creates spacing for every offense he plays in. While shooting will be the calling card for college coaches, I am interested to see what other area of his game can develop to be more than a one-trick pony at the next level.

Want to boost your ranking?
