Another NGNG SC 2028 who caught my eye this weekend is Kenon. I’ve been familiar with Jonah’s game since the high school season, but he was one whom I really wanted to monitor in Greenville to see how he’s developed. He was as active on the offensive glass as any big that I saw in the event, earning several second-opportunities for his team and even converting a few himself. Kenon was effective as a single big and next to a second one because it freed him up to be even more active as a rebounder and allowed him to show some of his polish from 15 feet and in.

Northwestern’s big man is one of the most intriguing additions to the Spring Rankings Update. The Trojans have an excellent crop of freshmen, but Kenon’s interior presence could be the difference between them winning sooner rather than later. Jonah is very active in the paint on both ends of the floor, as he works to earn extra possessions on the offensive glass, prevent them on the defensive glass, and protect the rim. When you combine his activity with a long, 6’6″ frame, it’s easy to see the potential with Jonah.

I had heard some positive things about Jonah over the summer, but he really caught my eye on Friday and was arguably as important to their win as anyone. He was key in flipping the third quarter around, turning a seven-point deficit into a seven-point lead because he had three offensive rebounds on the first three possessions of the half. Along with simply keeping plays alive on offense and preventing second chances on defense, Jonah chipped in with 8 points on a put-back layup, a dunker-spot dive, and 4-4 FT. Keep an eye on Kenon’s development, because he could be an important piece of this bright young core at Northwestern High School.
