Top 2027 Guard Prospects This Summer Throughout the Southeast

I watched a lot of aau and high school basketball this summer, here are a few of my favorite guards that I believe can truly make high level impacts at the college level and are set for breakout senior years.    Hunter is a shifty 3 level scorer who can run either guard spot at a high level. He shoots it at a high level off the catch and off the bounce, while also getting downhill to score. He slices up defenses with his ability to play out of high ball screens and dribble hand off scenarios. Hunter has college basketball written all over him and should be one of the premier guys to watch in the state of North Carolina for small college programs.     Charleston is one of the most underrated combo guards in the Atlanta area. A lengthy athlete who plays high above the rim and is a handful when driving to the cup. He has a lot of finishes around the rim in his arsenal and uses his ability to elevate to finish over interior defenses. Charleston also showed spirts of improvement with his outside shooting, proving he can score on multiple levels. Would not be surprised if some D1s or D2s check him out during his senior campaign. He should have a breakout senior year as Seckinger eyes a deep playoff run.     Hancock was one of the best pure shooters I saw all summer long, he has had multiple games this summer throughout his aau season where he connected on double digit makes from beyond the arc. He would make most peoples list for top shooters in the state of North Carolina and for good reason. He also is a nice facilitating point guard who can run an offense at a high level and get his squad organized.     Mitchell is another lights out shooter that would make the list of the best snipers I saw all summer. He has a true shooters stroke with a quick release and limitless range that has him stepping out well beyond the college line. Mitchell also was impressive with his ability to throw up a head fake to attack closeouts and create in the mid range. A crafty multi level scorer that small college programs should be on the lookout for.     Mcdow had one of the best summers of any pure shooter in the Atlanta area, arguably making his name as the best shooter in the state. He has really improved and taken big strives in his dribble drive game as well, attacking closeouts to create from the mid range while also being a threat to score around the rim. He is one of my favorite prospects in all of Georgia and should hear from multiple college programs throughout the next 10 months.     Reed is probably the best true point guard I watched all summer his high IQ combined with his speed and feel for the game just wows you when watching him play. He can get to the rim and finish over towering bigs and plays at an elite level out of ball screens. He is one of the best passers I saw all summer making difficult, thread the needle lead passes to teammates in the open floor. He has already picked up a few college offers and I expect more to roll in as he continues into his senior year.     Witte is a really interesting product out of the metro Atlanta area who provides a lot of value every time he steps on the floor. He is a deadly long range shooter that finished top 5 in the state of Georgia in three point makes last season as a junior and looks to build on that in his senior year. He is also a guy who relentlessly works on the glass putting up multiple double doubles every weekend for his Atlanta Standard squad, as a 6 foot guard that is a very rare skill making him even more of a prospect for next level coaches.     McCarthy is a combo guard that had a breakout June for Marist during the live period. He showed the ability to be an elite outside shooter while also attacking closeouts to score inside, while also being a selfless passer from inside off those drives. McCarthy turned the heads of a lot of college coaches this summer and I expect no less during his senior year.     Binion is a freak athlete who made a real name for himself this year during the June live period with his Mount Paran squad. He really blossomed as a multi level scorer who can run either guard spot. His strongest scoring attribute is his relentless ability to get to the cup and finish high above the rim. Binion is one of the best small school guards available and is worth a serious look if you are a college coach. He is set for a breakout year under a great program and head coach in Chuck Frierson.     Hoover has proved himself throughout the summer as a dangerous long range threat who can also score around the basket off two feet. He played a pivotal role in a successful summer for his Upward Stars squad. Hoover is one of the best shooters in all of the state of South Carolina and is already heard from coaches at the college level.     Beaver did what he does best all summer long, scoring the basketball. He is a guy who can score it on all three levels while being an effective passing lead guard as well. He just continues to polish his game and find ways to add scoring options to his bag. I saw a big jump in his ability to guard this summer as well. College coaches at the d2 and d3 level should be lined up to watch Beaver throughout his senior year.
