Spencer’s Standouts-NLI Recap Part 3

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I was able to cover the last live period in June at the Nevada Live Invitational. Time to take a look back at this outstanding event; here are some of the players that stood out to me:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2266384' first='Aiden' last='Williams'] <strong>Brophy Prep:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The lead guard for Brophy had a great showing at Nevada Live. Aiden was able to convert on catch-and-shoot 3s at a high percentage. Along with that, he was able to create his own shot off the bounce by blowing by defenders in transition and the half-court. He has lightning-quick hands, which allows him to get a lot of steals and deflections. He will continue to shine in a bigger role for Brophy this year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2297438' first='Oliver' last='Burbach'] <strong>Brophy Prep:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another guard for Brophy who made a jump during June ball. Oliver always plays with such high energy when he's on the court. He will look to take charges and do all the gritty things in order for his team to win. He has a quick trigger, which allows him to put up points in a hurry. Oliver doesn't lack confidence and should be a crucial piece for Brophy coming up.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2435389' first='Justin' last='Johnson'] <strong>Millennium:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A recent transfer into Millennium made his presence felt. Justin is a high-flyer who has the tools to finish all sorts of dunks. He will dunk the ball from a backdoor lob, offensive putbacks, and off the dribble. He works hard on the defensive side, using his length to his advantage. He is a great rebounder for his size and position. Justin is someone who will continue to grow as the season progresses. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2412268' first='Maurice' last='Carter II'] <strong>Millennium:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another transfer into Millennium, continued to show off his ability to adapt. Maurice was able to figure out his role on this team and fit right in. He is able to create his own shot off the bounce with an elite middy pull-up. He is also looking to facilitate for others more frequently in this Millennium offense. Maurice is applying elite ball pressure, forcing turnovers and leading to easy baskets for his squad. Once he is eligible during the season, expect him to have a huge year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2759176' first='Trevin' last='Davis'] <strong>Liberty:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Trevin looked impressive during Nevada Live. This was his first time playing live basketball for the last 2 months due to his injury, but he didn't let that stop him. He was knocking down shots from all over the court. He was fighting on the offensive glass and getting numerous second-chance opportunities. He is able to guard the 1-5 on defense with his quick feet. He was super impressive in the game I watched and even picked up an offer from UC Santa Barbara after the game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2948286' first='JJ' last='Sati-Grier'] <strong>Sierra Canyon:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The elite true point guard put everyone on notice. He is a quick-on-quick, pass-first guard. He is able to get into the paint with ease and looks to facilitate. JJ has crafty finishes that he uses to finish around bigger defenders. JJ killed it in June and is continuing to skyrocket in the national rankings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
