July UA Rise Notebook: NC Standouts (Part Two)

As we continue to wrap up our coverage from the month of July where there was a ton of high level basketball being played including on the UA Rise Circuit. We saw North Carolina teams help bring Championships home to their clubs with some very talented players on full display. We're going to take our 2nd deep dive on the happenings of the UA Rise Circuit in the month of July right here!    Payne provided this [program_tooltip program_id='2850876' first='Team' last='Accelerate'] 16u group with some consistent production throughout their season on the UA Rise Circuit as he's a guy with solid size and really quality outside touch. In the games UA has box scores for, Payne hit multiple threes in every single game in the month of July and scored in double figures in 75% of those contests. He can really help keep the defense honest with his shot-making along with being someone that can help on the glass and as a connector at both ends of the floor. Keep an eye out for Payne to be a potential riser in the rankings over future updates as he's poised for a big season at Marvin Ridge.     Pridgen is a guy that continues to establish himself as a primary producer for whatever team he's on as he possesses a natural ability to score the basketball. For No Guts No Glory 16u on the UA Rise Circuit, Pridgen has proven his ability to compete and produce vs talented players from all over America. In the final session, Pridgen averaged 13.5 Points, 2.8 Rebounds, 3.8 Assists, and 2.5 Steals per game on 48% from the floor and 86% from the line. He was able to produce at this rate while not shooting his best from beyond the arc on limited attempts. Pridgen is establishing himself as a bonafide next level prospect and should be lined up for a big Junior season at Hunt.     Bowes is one of the more unique prospects in North Carolina's 2028 class as he has great positional size, vision, and still a lot of untapped upside. For this [program_tooltip program_id='2375668' first='SW15H' last='Elite'] 16u team, he dealt with injuries during the first portion of the travel ball season but was able to really come on strong in July after getting healthy and provide them with a lot of help as they made their championship run. He had a three game stretch in Atlanta where he averaged 17.7 Points, 6.7 Rebounds, 3.3 Assists, and 4.3 Steals per game on 63/100/67 shooting splits. He did only attempt one three per game. Bowes upside is obvious and now that he's producing with more consistency, he's only going to become more of a commodity in the recruiting world ahead of his Junior season at Greensboro Day.     Rodgers is a young guard in North Carolina that has continued to show real strides in his game and is proving to be a reliable shot-maker with the work he put in this spring/summer with No Guts No Glory 15u on the UA Rise Circuit. During UA Rise play per underarmournext.com, Rodgers averaged 13.8 Points, 4.5 Rebounds, 3.3 Assists, and 1.5 Steals per game on 40/45/94 shooting splits. His ability to make outside shots and plays for others make him a really tough check in ball screen situations. He's the kind of shooter to keep a defense honest while also not being afraid to get his hands dirty on the glass or in passing lanes. Rodgers will be a guy to monitor in this 2029 NC class.     Tweedy is one of the more versatile two way players in North Carolina's 2028 class and that was on full display as he helped [program_tooltip program_id='2375668' first='SW15H' last='Elite'] 16u win a UA Rise Championship. Tweedy is coming off of a really strong season at Cary Academy and has been a notable player in this class for a little while now. Performances like his 19 Point and 14 Rebound effort vs Redline provide context as to why. Tweedy shows the ability to impact the defensive end of the floor as well as he's a very switchable guy with the ability to swing possessions with steals or blocks. Tweedy shows flashes of his outside shooting and as that gets more consistent with increased volume, I fully expect his recruitment to take off even further.
