He played with a much more consistent motor, impacted possessions on both ends, and looked far more comfortable within the flow of the offense. Defensively, his activity and versatility took a noticeable step forward, as he moved his feet well and showed the ability to switch onto multiple positions. Offensively, the agile forward displayed the skill to score from all three levels while continuing to expand his overall game. He scored efficiently from all three levels, using his burst to create separation and put defenders at a disadvantage throughout the game. There were several stretches where Gardner carried the offensive load, generating quality looks for himself and finishing plays with confidence. He consistently turned routine plays into highlight finishes, elevating with ease around the basket and converting through or over traffic. Once he gained a step, very few defenders had the athleticism to recover, allowing him to create efficient scoring opportunities in transition and off the bounce. Once he got out in transition, defenders had little chance of slowing him down, as he covered ground quickly and finished plays with authority. His handle made it difficult for defenders to stay in front, while his ability to score or deliver the right pass forced defenses into tough decisions.
