Adidas 3SSB Palmetto Road: The Southeast’s Top Performers

With players from across the region showcasing their skill, versatility, and competitiveness on one of the summer's biggest stages, several stood above the rest. Caughman Jr. had a few strong showings in Rock Hill last week, averaging 12.8 points per game across 5 games. Although he didn't have his best stretch of shooting, Antoine was able to show his defensive upside all week long. I checked out Madden in a win over 99 OVR, where he went for 19 points on 8-20 FG plus 6 rebounds and a steal. Shamar was one of the most exciting scorers in the 16U division all week long, possessing a deep bag of scoring moves to get to the rim and his spots in the mid-range. He settled into a nice rhythm over the weekend, averaging 14.3 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game, and 3.3 blocks per game over his final three games. Evans was a real bright spot for Anthony Edwards Five in 3SSB play, displaying his motor, explosiveness, and length against some of the nation's top competition. He made a name for himself playing up two age groups with Austin Rivers Southeast Elite 17U in Rock Hill, averaging 22 points per game, 8 rebounds per game, and 3 assists per game while facing off with some of the most highly-touted prospects in the country. I got to see RJ in his true statement game - a 32-point outing in the second-round matchup with Garner Road - and it was clear to see he had as high a ceiling as anyone in the gym. Although his gifted scoring ability was on full display, I was equally as impressed with Evans' feel for playmaking and taking smart shots despite being on fire in a tight game. Matt showcased his ability to positively impact the game whether his shots were falling or not, running with [program_tooltip program_id='2863440' first='Game' last='Elite'] in the 3SSB finale. He is an excellent finisher around the rim, plays bigger than his listed size, and is always engaged defensively. Allen saved his two best games for last, going for 20 points on 3-6 3FG against ETG and 22 points and 12 rebounds on 3-4 3FG against Washington Warriors. Wesley was arguably the hottest shooter in Rock Hill last week, shooting an impressive 17-29 (59%) from three across four games and a run to the Elite 8. Not only was Hilldale hitting shots all weekend long, but he hit them when his team needed them most, such as 5-made threes in the second half of a 3-point win over ARSE. Wesley is an ATO weapon who shoots it extremely well on the move with a quick release and good size. Wesley had the type of weekend that can be game-changing from a college recruitment standpoint, so keep an eye on his offer list to grow over the next few weeks. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
