As the summer comes to a close and we prepare to update prospect rankings across all classes, take a look at several 2029 forwards with breakout potential heading into their sophomore seasons.

A poster child for passing the look test, Lownes stands out immediately with his rangy frame and graceful athleticism out to the perimeter. The emerging hybrid forward will step into the varsity rotation for the first time this season for the defending state champs, coming off a summer where he put himself on the radar while winning a MADE Hoops Challenger Circuit title at the 15U level. He has nimble feet with natural ball skills, a solid feel for the game, and flashes of floor-spacing ability as a shooter. Lownes is still on the early stages of his overall development but has clear upside with his combination of size, fluidity, and a budding inside-out skillset.

After missing just about the entirety of his freshman season with injuries and literal growing pains, Jackson projects to step right into the starting five this year as a consistent offensive focal point for the Cahillites. Jackson now enters into the family business, following the footsteps of his father Marc (Temple/NBA) and brothers Shareef (Lafayette) and Sammy (VCU) as lynchpins of the Roman program. He's a brilliant passer with an abundance of natural feel, skill, and touch whether operating from the post or working on the perimeter with a live dribble. Jackson cut his teeth this past summer as a consistent standout for Roman in the June live periods and a bright spot for [program_tooltip program_id='2078709' first='Team' last='Final']'s 15U group as an inside-out hub. His upside will be determined largely by what kind of shape he works into over time, but Jackson should jump firmly onto D1 radars over the course of the winter.

Coming off a season on the freshman and JV teams, McGuire has a chance to crack the varsity rotation this winter with a unique blend of size and skill. A bulkier forward, he's a natural operator with the ball in his hands out to the perimeter, showing shotmaking touch and passing feel from each level of the floor. He plays with a natural flair that makes for a really fun watch when he has a matchup he's able to exploit. If McGuire can continue to refine his conditioning and iron out a role on the defensive end, he could be an X-factor for Wood up front by the time the postseason rolls around.

A chiseled frontcourt piece who's contributed in isolated flashes to this point in his high school career, Wisniowski has made his impact in the past on the strength of his size, strength, and athleticism in the frontcourt. Getting a look at Wisniowski in an AAU setting offers a whole different outlook on his game, as he shifts from a rim-running forward to a full-on offensive initiator from the perimeter. It remains to be seen if the latter role can be a viable one for him in the high school environment, but nonetheless he looks ready to make a jump in his overall contributions heading into his second year on the Main Line.

The flashes were there throughout Scott's freshman season, but if his play over the summer is taken as any indication, he's ready to be a constant factor up front for one of the more consistent programs in Central PA. A hard-charging forward, he makes his impact mostly on the strength of his size, athleticism, and energy on both ends of the floor. He's a highlight waiting to happen as an above-the-rim finisher and emphatic shot-blocker, with increasing glimpses of skill as a slasher off the dribble and floor-spacer out to the perimeter. He'll have to continue refining his skillset but Scott is starting to look increasingly like a safe bet to draw D1 attention in the years to come.

Alexander could be one of the bigger wild cards in the Friends League this year, joining a cadre of transfers that have Shipley looking to make an immediate jump up the standings. A towering frontcourt presence with immense length and a developing frame, Alexander is still largely a project at this point but has the raw tools to make an impact around the rim that few in the league can match. He's struggled to get his feet under him to this point at Sankofa Freedom in the Public League, but the increased structure in his new environment along with steady growth throughout the summer could allow for him be worked in more concertedly as a rim-runner and dumpoff threat. His development in the years to come will be critical to the Gators' outlook and could land him on a wide spectrum of college radars.

An emerging rotation piece for a Prep team looking to make a leap up the PCL standings, Brown should make a splash on the varsity level for the first time this winter. He catches the eye immediately with his standout length and graceful athleticism in the frontcourt, playing with solid energy while making an impact around the rim on both ends of the floor. His contributions as a weakside shot-blocker and opportunistic finisher around the rim could provide a nice boost off the bench for a revamped Prep frontcourt. Brown is still early in the process of rounding out his overall skillset but looks ready to be heard from this winter.

As the summer comes to a close and we prepare to update prospect rankings across all classes, take a look at several 2029 forwards with breakout potential heading into their sophomore seasons.
