What to watch Saturday at Nevada Live

Saturday at Nevada Live will see nearly every team in the event playing two games across 15 hours of basketball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After an exciting Friday of action, the eyes turn to Saturday with juicy matchups on the horizon and talent spread throughout the Las Vegas area at four different locations. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The bulk of teams will be playing at the Las Vegas Basketball Center on the north side of the city.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The list below consists of who to watch, when to watch, and what to watch on Saturday in Las Vegas. Cottonwood's 6'9" forward Luka Cecez will battle it out against the Sunnyslope frontcourt of [player_tooltip player_id='1555179' first='Darius' last='Wabbington'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2552733' first='Donovan' last='Palmer']. Both teams struggled on day one as they both fell in tight games. Cottonwood fell to La Mirada 61-54 and Sunnyslope narrowly lost to Mater Dei 55-52. Both teams now hope to make a run at the consolation championship.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">9:20 AM: Perry vs Palisades (Cimmaron HS Court 1)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In what may be the most talented matchup of the day not at LVBC, Perry and their trio of division one prospects [player_tooltip player_id='2457665' first='Viktor' last='Babic'], [player_tooltip player_id='2146175' first='LJ' last='Diamond'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2693801' first='Dane' last='Montague'] face off against Palisades whose duo of Phillip Reed Jr and EJ Popoola are equally as strong. The key to this matchup will be the guard battle between Diamond and Reed who both counter each other so well and how well Popoola holds his own against Babic. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">10:40 AM: Desert Edge vs Santa Margarita Catholic (Canyon Springs HS Court 1)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the hottest teams from Arizona will meet their match against perennial contender Santa Margarita out of California. The Scorpions got on a roll at Section 7 and have started to hit their stride after a strong first round win over La Jolla Country Day. This game will have a big time guard matchup as incoming freshman Yakai Craig will run the floor against [player_tooltip player_id='2533594' first='CJ' last='Johnson'] Jr. The biggest thing to watch in this battle of the guards is who steps up around them. For the Scorpions it'll be whether or not they get balanced production from players such as Mekhi Storkel.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">12 PM: Orem vs Willow Canyon (Cimmaron Court 1)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Continuing the theme of the day, this matchup at high noon will be a battle of point guards. Orem's Troy Kaufusi is one of the top junior point guards not just on the west coast but in the country. He poses a true test for [player_tooltip player_id='2386978' first='Jaydon' last='Hayes'] of Willow Canyon who is transitioning from a shooting guard role his first two seasons to being the lead guard. Kaufusi's strength is unique for the point guard position and Hayes' athleticism for the position is just as unique. Strength vs athleticism is a unique and exciting battle. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">1:20 PM: Millennium vs Sierra Canyon (LVBC Court 3)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In what may be not just the game of the day but possibly the best game of the whole event, Millennium and Sierra Canyon face off. These two teams will be ranked in the preseason national top ten. Sierra Canyon year in and year out is one of the most talented rosters in the country and this year is no different. The Blazers boast four high major prospects, senior Carson Butler and juniors Jordan Mize, JJ Sati Grier, and Josh Lowery. They matchup against Millennium's superstar trio of [player_tooltip player_id='2370259' first='Terry' last='McKinney III'], [player_tooltip player_id='2412268' first='Maurice' last='Carter II'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1546987' first='Adan' last='Diggs']. Nearly every high major coach in attendance watched both teams individually on Friday. The Bears rolled through St. John Bosco in a game that wasn't close as [player_tooltip player_id='2249943' first='Lleyton' last='Leonard'], Kingston Montague, and [player_tooltip player_id='2552772' first='Tre' last='Terry'] controlled the game from the opening tip.
